It's what I feared as well. It seems after the 1st game we stopped playing defense. And the thing is the elite defense is what placed us among the elite of the league, we don't have the talent to out talent more talented teams.

We need that defense to emerge. A lot of the other contending teams have already adopted similar offensive systems, it's only looking great to us because we never had it.

It's why I like the idea of Niko/Jo starting with Rose, Jimmy, Snell

And then Taj playing with Pau off the bench

I think we need to start the games with some defensive identity

I just see Noah being so ineffective off the bench, while I think Pau can feast off it

Just run the rotation where you have the ability to still finish with Pau if he's cooking

It should easily allow us to limit Jo and Pau's minutes and get Bobby burn too

We need those two playing like 26-29 minutes, neither can play more than 30 I'm Hoibergballs pace, it exerts alot of energy

The defense will be even worse then last year I am afraid. One thing Thibs preached last year from the guys on the perimeter was battle through those screens. None of that switch shyt. And rotation. I saw a couple of times already where guys like Dermott just switching with the pick man and not telling Pau, leaving the roller to just get to the rim untouched. Can't do that or leave Pau on the perimeter. Thats automatic 2 pts everytime. And if teams like Det already figuring this out the elite will shred us

Which worries me because I thought this part of his game is what he would be elite at.

He doesn't have a post game, he can't slash and get to the rim, he not getting offensive rebounds and put backs.

I kept thinking taj would lose minute because of bobby but maybe niko might need to sit a bit for portis idk

As far as our defense, I figure we'll be about the same as last year. Especially if Noah/Taj can't bounce back to form. They really cleaned up alot for us.

Obviously it's only pre-season but I expected Butler's offensive game to be more polished this season. Still not entirely convinced he's a #1 option.
