There's nothing dumbed down about anything Windows. I have no problem with a mobile OS like on my Lumia 920. It does everything needed for a cell phone and more. It even has MS Office on it.GPS, Camera, Email, text, phone, Internet, music, games. What else do you want?

Their goal was to create an ecosystem where the windows experience across multiple platforms was similiar and interconnected. they have succeeded.
The whole metro interface is dumbed down to mobile phone style interfaces that lack deep menus and options.

phones ain't even good enough for grade school projects. You not typing up something major on a cellphone. Heaven forbid college work and an online class!!! I still burn cds...still the best in car sound. I don't need a music collection on the iphone.

I refuse to do my taxes with turbotax mobile, lol. I'm not putting together a resume on a cellphone and trying to apply to jobs on my cell. And i dunno how to play steam games with my cell. I treat my cell like a Gameboy....but the ps3 and computer is for hardcore.

but i do use my laptop much less these days for social/communication things. I don't have an AOL/AIM buddy list on the side of my computer anymore, lol. Unlimited txt msgs and facebook killed instant messaging.

uh it is happening. you just wont choose to do it on a super small screen without a legit keyboard. and with a wack battery.

the processing power of these phones now are on par with some old computers.

I was looking into getting a windows phone this past week, but I couldn't fukk with it because of how they try to force the whole hotmail/MSN shyt on you. They'd have a better shot of getting people to switch if they made it a bit easier to deal with gmail. My work emails run through gmail and I was asking the T-Mo folks about integration and they're giving me answers that were making me :rudy: so I got a Nexus 4 instead.

If they wanna start snatching android users they should start by being more accepting of having some facet of google apps in their system. At least cut a deal with Google to make it work with gmail and google talk smoothly.

:mindblown:

Windows Phone works perfectly fine with Gmail. I have two windows phones and use my gmail address on both. I also have a windows live account with is awesome as well. Please dont ask the cell phone workers at any of these stores for "advice" on what phones to purchase because 99% of the time they dont know shyt.

And for Google talk there is an app for that. Sorry those guys mislead you.

It's good that competition is driving these companies to innovate again.

They are a business...they should be innovating. And well they invented windows 8....but it is not innovating because they produced a good the public did/does not want! m$ put a freakin' mobile OS on-top of windows 7....just insult our intelligence! My PC ain't my xbox or my phone!

What is innovation? definition and meaning

business drives these industries....I remember regular people as in high school kids that had blackberries back in the day that worked at mcdonalds and I don't think they had MickeyD's corporate e-mails, lol. People like business productivity even if they have zero purpose for it at the time. you get the business people hooked...then you win over the kids....then everyone else falls into place including government contracts for your product.

i'm sure windows 8 could maybe go after the touch screens at restaurants for placing orders or fastfood order computers. I dunno who they tested windows 8 on....

let me give an analogy for windows 8.

if M$ made a TV...they would come up with some fancy touchscreen controls so I can get oil and grease on my screen the times I need to touch it. AND ditch the remote control for a kinects camera and require that you do the WB Frog Dance to change the channel to the CW....and market that jawnt as you saving money on batteries and time looking for lost remotes!!! :comeon:

M$ making life simpler....haha!

Windows 7 and Windows Xp is fine and dominate the PC market.

You don't go out of business for a windows 8/vista failure....you go out of business if you force it on the public and throw windows 7 and windows XP in the bushes. M$ is not an up-and-coming business....they should learn from it for their next step or be prepared for another company to pick up where windows 7 left off.....
