The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was an album by a female rapper, and is a classic, so in that sense the OP is correct. I bumped it heavily in '98 and wanted it to win all the awards it did, but she rapped on what, “Lost Ones,” “Doo Wop (That Thing),” “Final Hour” and “Everything is Everything”? (someone can correct me if I've left out a track) So out of 15 songs (16 tracks, minus the intro), she only raps on less than a third of the tracks. It won awards for Best R&B Album at the Billboard Awards, and won a Grammy for Best R&B Album with the Album of the Year, so on my list of favorite albums I put it on the R&B list as an R&B album which has some hip-hop on it, since it was categorized as an R&B album at the time of its release. (I've also seen it talked about as neo soul.)

I never cared for the Miseducation Of Lauren Hill....that is not a hip hop album.....if you were a true head and respected lyricism....this woman right here dropped a classic lyrical hip hop album....

Aside from Missy's catalog, those are the only 4 female rap albums I can say I've heard in full.

I don't know about Missy's Da Real World. It really didn't have the impact of the debut, but still might be as crazy. I'd say So Addictive is more arguable than that one. Supa Dupa Fly is still Missy's only claim to a classic though. It's the only one a solid case could be made for.

I could see a case for Hardcore.

Lauryn's album is as much of a rap album as any of Missy's.
