i fukk HATE that MOLH gets any type of billing as a rap album... she ain't rapping on half of it for one... and 2, nikkas don't remember ANY of her bars as being anything classic

this was a damn r&b album that white people put in the rap category based on 3 singles

That was then. As you said "when it dropped"

Classic means bytches should still be spitting that right now today. nikkas still running around spitting old biggie, PAC, jay, snoop off their classics

Nobody running around spitting no classic lauryn shyt. You give me 1-3 songs don't make a classic album. What about the other 15 songs

I liked maybe 3-4 songs off Lauren.

Nothin really matters
Lost Ones

Can't recall any other ones being my jawns. That thing was obnoxious as fukk and was a record white chicks screeched annoyingly to. Zion was weak. Don't recall much else.

Pretty much...I always thought of the album this way:

1/3 great songs
1/3 good songs
1/3 subpar songs

Not a classic.

Same thing happened with The Score really :mjpls:

but I aint said nothin :iseeu:

Latifah's debut album is the only one I consider a classic.

What real, lasting impact did it have though? Please explain. It was hot for a time fa sho, but what is this lasting impact y'all keep talking about?

The biggest so called "rap" artist right now is essentially a male version of Lauren Hill...he's ghostwritten and benefits from being credited and ranked as rapper even when he's releasing songs and albums that aren't necessarily within the genre.

Claim a r n b album is a top hip hop album, brehs

Yet every website that carries the album says 'Hip-hop'/rap music in the genre category.
So Who am i gonna believe?:russ:

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill by Lauryn Hill on Apple Music

No matter how hard ya'll try to downplay it, Miseducation is a Hip Hop album, point blank, period.

It says hip-hop/rap in every genre description so the weirdos saying otherwise are just reaching.

I feel where OP is coming from but fukk it, Dirty Harriet is my personal GOAT female rap album

Source gave Dirty Harriet 3 1/2 mics which sounds about right

12 Play has as much rapping on it as Miseducation. Thats my Kellz hip hop classic :blessed:

I remember when they tried to say Roman Reloaded was a pop album and not hip-hop. :heh:

It's a classic because of it's impact, it was an album that had it's own "moment" in music history but that is also the only reason why any fukking moron would try and situate it anywhere near great rap albums and act like it fits in.

Nas and every other great rapper who claimed it as one of the great Hip Hop albums is a moron and The Coli is the ultimate authority on what is Hip Hop and what isn't.
