When I read the title of this thread, the first thing that came to mind is that Vegas basically made it a crime to be Black!

I say this because we know that disproportionately, many homeless people are Black men and we also know that laws tend to be enforced on Black men much more frequently and harshly than any other demographic, so I think this so called law is a Segway towards creating another pipeline towards filling up prisons.

I guess I got my tinfoil hat on, but to fine someone homeless $1000 knowing that these people do not have the means to pay such a fine tells me that something sinister is being planned. How is a law going to fix a problem that was created by laws a customs that created homelessness?

I don't know why the bolded isn't discussed more in this thread and other threads on homelessness. 71% of the homeless population is Black in NYC. 7% of the homeless population in NYC is white. Here in Denver I see more than my fair share of homeless Black men and women...im sure its just as bad in California and other areas. I dont understand why people on here don't want to talk about this or think homelessness just affects white poeple.

And the sad thing is I'm seeing it more and more over the years.

Because regardless of race, these folks rather chill on the sidewalk and panhandle than do any work....

It is a huge problem in Philly....but nothing is done about it....

The camping ban proposal drew opposition from Democratic presidential candidates Joe Biden (2R), Elizabeth Warren (right), Bernie Sanders (3R), Kamala Harris (4R), Cory Booker (3L), Tom Steyer (2L) and Julian Castro (not pictured)

Tulsi Gabbard is clearly in the picture. Why did the author fail to mention her?

I don't know why it isn't discussed, but the telling part about this is by criminalizing homelessness, it makes a homeless person a "criminal".

How is a homeless person supposed to know which shelter is available for occupancy? Even if they knew, how are they supposed to get there? Walk? Also, many homeless people suffer from severe mental issues, so how are they supposed to be responsible enough to think of finding a shelter?

So, if a police officer ticket a homeless person for breaking the law and said ticket isn't paid, then what happens? Jail! Jail leads to prison.

I think it should be a crime to have a system and custom that creates homelessness. The state of Nevada should buy up abandoned buildings and turn it into a shelter. They should should also create jobs for homeless people so they can sustain themselves.

Criminalizing homeless people is beyond sinister! They just want to create concentration camps and make money off of their despair through cheap or slave labor.

A couple weeks ago I told 6 homeless cats I'd seen around that the Staples in my area was hiring and they had a 'National Hiring Day' where you could stop in, talk right to a manager, and probably start working in about a week after they did a background check. AFAIK, none of them had anything to worry about as far as warrants, etc. All they had to do was show up and, from what I knew about that particular location (one of my peoples works there), they would hire them on-the-spot. $10+/hr starting salary. Store is right along bus lines and, if necessary, you could WALK there in about 15-20 minutes.

Guess how many of them went?

although, its never been a crime.. Vegas has been one of the many cities throughout the US, that will literally give you a bus ticket to gtfo if you're homeless..

alot of the homeless were being sent to San Diego via Greyhound, for years.. forgot the other cities, but when i lived downtown SD.. they had a huge issue with homeless folks coming down from Vegas, and other cities..
They giving them one way tickets to Hawaii too

All I know is that I hate walking the Vegas strip and seeing homeless people, and sometimes their dog, sleeping on the sidewalk. I’m more worried about drunk people messing with them leading to injuries or death. I would at least push them off the strip for their protection. They’re cops out there but they always look like they can’t be bothered for nothing

There should be a colosseum-like fighting league where homeless people fight each other. Winner gets enough money to buy a happy meal. People can gamble on the various matches.

I read it...the lack of compassion is profound...1st its like fukk nikkas they deserve to die all the homeless regardless that anyone can be homeless there's no garuantees...plus add on mental illness homelessness we drive you insane..and there is plenty of people just mentally ill that see...plus drug addictions because the hope is gone and they know its no fair shake so they give up....everybody knows somebody thats homeless its impossible not...and the criminalized homelessness they gonna criminalize poverty..so its gonna be fukk the poor not just the homeless...its a wicked game
