Some of those shelters go over capacity and don't have enough beds for everybody. So people are going to get thrown out in the streets regardless due to lack of availability of beds.If beds are available, they should sleep in the shelters paid for and provided by the city. How are u gonna fine a homeless person 1000?
although, its never been a crime.. Vegas has been one of the many cities throughout the US, that will literally give you a bus ticket to gtfo if you're homeless..
alot of the homeless were being sent to San Diego via Greyhound, for years.. forgot the other cities, but when i lived downtown SD.. they had a huge issue with homeless folks coming down from Vegas, and other cities..

They go to the city's municipality and inquire. If the city doesn't have shelter, they contact the county. If the county has nothing available, they contact the State.
And thus sleeping on the streets is permitted. How do folks even know what beds are available and where? Some of those shelters go over capacity and don't have enough beds for everybody. So people are going to get thrown out in the streets regardless due to lack of availability of beds.
im pretty sure they have this in almost every state.. if om not mistaken, if you dont have a home- you can pretty much ride Greyhound for free to wherever you need to be..yeah i never knew anythin about this till about 6 years ago. i was findin housing for someone and low and behold came across the "ship em out" program where they was payin people to go to NJ and other states
this is also, true.. was working with a older cat from NJ, who was homeless.. he would have to be back at the shelter at a particular time, or he wasnt allowed in without a written letter from us..That's only at the municipality level and they can't just 'throw you out'. If no beds are available there, the municipality contacts the County and so on up till they get to the State level.
Hell, when I worked at the shelter, we had to get police to escort people off the premises AND put them in a hotel room for at least a week.
If you cannot be housed in a shelter, there are ALWAYS funds available to put someone in temporary shelter (rooming houses, motels, etc.) until more permanent shelter is available.
They’re on opposite sides of the strip....the stadium is behind Mandalay BayIs the downtown area near the new stadium??

Its funny how you can be homeless all day near the strip but soon as you pass Durango it becomes a problem. I understand though people are paying good money to stay in those areas, the last thing they want is for homeless people to just come and set up shop therehomeless are starting to drift into areas like Rhodes ranch and Summerlin, and with the influx of the poor comes the increase in crime. The combo of drug usage, poor with nothing to lose, and homeless just naturally brings crime with it. No one wants that on their doorstep. Folks are sleeping in parks and vacant lots in regular ass neighborhoods. Theft, home invasions, stolen cars all on the rise in those areas. women being attacked while out on late night/early morning jogs etc. folks don’t want drifters in the park across the street from their fam when there are beds to be had elsewhere
That’s sadly the only time action will be taken. It ain’t an easy fix, but if there’s beds available making sure folks stuck in that dire situation are using those rather than drifting into residential areas or unsafe public areas like the underground tunnels/washes I don’t have an issue withIts funny how you can be homeless all day near the strip but soon as you pass Durango it becomes a problem.
