If you were really "overqualified" firms would be reaching out to you demanding your skills.

If you can't find a job with your current skillset it seems like you need to work on attaining new, more marketable skills.

If an employer needs a Ruby on Rails developer they're not going to DQ him because he knows C# too...

:comeon:

You smart dumb nikka I just laid it out for you. I get calls regularly for jobs in the Northeast and the West Coast. I got my last two jobs through recruiters who sought me out because of my resume (just as you pointed out earlier). The problem is not my skills or being able to find a job, if I was staying in this god forsaken city I would cake off. The problem is where I want to live does not have an abundance of jobs in my field. You do realize certain areas are friendlier/more involved in more industries, correct? The industry I am in is not big in the areas I want to live in.

*expects another post from this nikka with some completely irrelevant "advice"*

*EDIT* Lol @ this dude talking about IT, I am a mechanical engineer. You do know there are different kinds of engineers right?

:what: seriously, how do you not catch a bytch for 30 years? you might as well leave it alone at that point.

Im saying tho, obviously she was good enough to last 30 years. I would have swept it under the rug just to avoid the PR hit. But hey I guess it didnt do too much damage.

That's who I plan on partnering with. I'm not even gonna try to go the big 4 route.

Good, the big 4 route is useless, it's never something you can call your own. You might as well work as a line cook.

Big 4 should be your plan A and B.

Once you get the big 4 experience, you can do anything you want to.

I didnt, Im still learning and think Im good for my age. :ehh:

But I have a feeling you're gonna come back with a story of how u had an established career before 19..
Well, I had relevant experience in my field from jobs that I had way back in middle school. I didn't know how well those skills and experiences would translate in to a real career back in the day. I lacked the perspective. I hated the work though. The conditions were awful and the people working there were pretty revolting, from a physical perspective at least.

I eventually got fired from that job for not fitting in culturally. I was really young, had a future, didn't chain smoke or dip, and I had an air of superiority about me that didn't mesh with the environment. In hindsight I'm glad that I was driven to work at a young age. I learned a lot for a kid that age. I can knock out any interview just talking about that job. Hahaha.

My roommate was a biomedical engineering and material science major and I have a background in labor economics so I'm well aware that there are different engineers. Mechanical and civil are not so hot right now (comparatively speaking) so I understand that you're feeling the crunch. You already know what's up with finding a job in that field. Good luck on your search. (Not really, I'm just being polite)

Ive noticed black people are notorious for throwing their GPA around. Hahaha nikka nobody gives a fukk :heh: .

When's the last time you've seen a white person talk about their grades. All they do in college is smoke weed and get wasted. Yet they still always seem to have a better job lined up after they graduate over their black counterparts :leostare:

nikkas dont understand this world is all about your network and connections. If you dont know anybody how the fukk are you gonna get your foot in the door over a kid whose aunt is the hiring manager.

Breh this is too true. Mane I was chilling with a friend (white) of mine at his spot, one of his roomates was in a frat. We was doing hw on a tuesday night this nikka pregaming to goto the bar. He started talking about how it dont even matter what degree he gets or his GPA all he has to do is graduate and he'll get a good job. Hell the friend I was chilling with is an engineer, his GPA wasnt too good but he still could have gotten a pretty good internship through his moms friend, his only setback would have been the drug test.

Really my advice would be for yall to start rubbing elbows we with these white folks mane. Party, drink , and get with them and hey mane they might be able to out you on.

Damn breh that sucks cause alot of opportunities come just because they want to hire directly from my school. Decreases the competition tenfold (nationwide 1000s of applicants to just your school 10's of applicants).
