last 2 companies I have worked for work that way. 3 weeks of internal candidates, then go out and look for candidates if nobody in the company is selected.

Its bullshyt, just strengthens my position that its all connections at the end of the day. Someone with a straight 4.0, IQ of 160 does not even have an opportunity with the company if someone internally jumps on it :snoop:

I don't see why that's a problem. If you worked for a company, wouldn't you want that type of loyalty?

Worked 3 times for me.

I'm a light skin black militant, I'm not kissing nobody's ass or begging for a job FOH :hmm:

I automatically received the :stopitslime: this negro is out of her damn mind face, but received a call stating when they wanted me to start.

Having me work for your company is a privilege, better recognize greatness when you see it :shaq:

Had to mention you are light skinned...

To be an air force pilot you're minimum education has to be a bachelors degree. Same with a police officer. So you're telling me as long as I have an art degree I can fly a fighter aircraft or carry a gun and police people? Is this real life? :bryan:

I'm doing something different than what I studieD in college. I went to school and majored in info systems and worked in that field for a while. Then I did that type of job in a health care setting and started training folks. Then since all the medical info is in computers they started wanting reports out the system for that. And that led me to the job I got now which is better where I dont do ANY IT or technical stuff, it's all about data and report writing for a really large health care organization out here.

Having a degree don't mean shyt to me. Back when I was hiring manager I took off the bachelor degree requirement. I was hiring for a software position. What I had found is that a lot of the guys with degree were lazy and rested on their merits. I started hiring in people who had a history of being promoted in the previous jobs they held even if they didn't have a college degree. Much better employees and much harder workers and two of them ended up taking my place in that position as I advanced in the company.

So many companies are doing this now.
Bust my ass in school to get an entry level job paying what?.
$10/hr
That's like graduation from medical school just to work as an CNA in a retirement home.

I actually hire people. Let me give you a tip.

Experience trumps education. Why? You can pay experienced people less than people with credentials and they can probably adapt to the job much quicker.

What college students need to do is to do free internships while in college in their perspective field. You're not really doing it for the work experience (although it helps), you are doing it for the connections that you can make. It's never what you know but who you know.

You need to establish a network, and find somebody who can open doors for you. Degrees don't mean much. A masters degree with no actual experience makes it very hard to find a job with the salary you might expect.

But yeah... entry level with 4+ years experience is crazy

I'm goin to school for management and finance. I make very good grades but I fear that the work experience is gonna kill me!! I'm just hoping that people look passed it because of my work ethic and good grades.

You definitely need to be getting on some CO-OPS or internships.. I work in Finance for a large Bank ..I was a Low B college student, and didn't go to a big school at all..But i got the internship during my junior year, beating out a Morehouse and GT student during the interview..

Before my internship ended, The HR lady told me to MAKE SURE I keep in touch with her up until graduation..I sent a freindly hello letter every couple of months right up until graduation...a couple of days later they were setting me up to fly to NY to begin my career..:win:

Also, once you get into a big company, especially in the Finance world, you pretty much can throw that college knowledge in the bushes:birdman: .. You learn most of that on the job, you learn their systems, you learn the calculations, and the way the company works..The shyt I know know you would think I could have a show on CNBC..I learned about 90% of finance on the job!

What a degree really says to an employer is that You have the ability to comprehend and learn..That's all it really says..

No kids, Drive a brand new whip, own spot and I'm at the lower level of the finance world, and I also live in ATL where the cost of living is low so right now life is :win: for me :manny:..and I'm only at the low level of the company..I'm trying to make that Senior Associate/Vice President Money :gladbron:

You can definitely make more money if you work in a finance center like NYC, or Charlotte, NC..

Most of the bosses and Senior Associates who I worked with while living in NY had their kids in Private schools, the ones here in Atlanta have their kids in the rich ass public schools like McEachern High School...

With an art degree I can be eligible for flight school. With a Native American tribal law studies degree I can be eligible for flight school. It's a joke :laff:
