K Dot does not need J Cole for any attention. Did J Cole ever went gold? K Dot's album is almost platinum. People needs to give K more credit when it is due.

At least know the facts before you speak you degenerate baboon...

His Debut album --> 600k+ and rsising..
Work Out ---> PLAT
Cant get enough --> GOLD

Power Trip --> GOLD (on the road to PLAT)

What has Sean Proven that Cole hasn't?

They both had 2 hits on thief lead albums

Both of the albums are considered disappointments.

Negative. The main people who thought Finally Famous was disappointing are the ones who hate Big Sean anyway because of his image, or because of his adlibs, or because he's not "hard." Many people - critics, fans, etc. - saw someone who worked with No I.D. to put together a complete body of work that had great singles, solid album tracks, and a good representation of his personality and who he is.

From what I've seen, anyway :manny:

See.

There are a lot of artists out here that people like to shyt on who have ACTUALLY proven themselves:

Big Sean.
Drake.
Wale.
etc.

but...theres this ONE guy who ALWAYS manages to deliver that C+, middle of the bell-curve bullshytt, that you always love to amp up to be more than what it is.

That's J Cole.

See, even though his first album was trash. (I seriously liked "Sideline Story." Song was smooth) we mostly gave him a pass.

Not since Too Deep For The Intro have I seriously been impressed with dude. He's had a few songs here and there, but nothing that blew me away.

Now you bring up this album and we again are living on MORE PROMISES of:

...what J Cole COULD be.

What J Cole...MIGHT be.

What J Cole...HAS THE POTENTIAL to do...

BUT...at some point you gotta judge a nikka by WHAT HE HAS DONE AND CONTINUES TO DO.

J Cole's entire discography is promoted by fans who always want to reject the mainstream but want THEIR guy to win.

Thats fine. And I'd love for him TO win. But he disappoints me ALL. THE. TIME.

If it wasn't for the Jay-Z cosign, J Cole would be rapping for "likes" on 2DopeBoyz or something with the rest of his actual peers (talent wise).

He's not built for this stuff. Other artists can do HIM better than HE can.

Its about time ya'll take a long and hard look at why ya'll are willing to go to bat for this guy after proven and consistent failures.

I like "let nas down"...I think.
Cosign, the highlights of his career are signing to jay, talking about vanessa simmons, beefing with diggy simmons, saying he wants to do a album with nas, saying "i'm releasing my album against kanye" saying "i'm tired of people acting like kanye, nas and jay cant be touched" Now he has a song with TLC.

Cole went gold before Kendrick dropped an album...and had a bigger fanbase at one point...I still don't see how that proves Cole didn't give Kendrick the cosign or whatever..not sayin if it helped or hurt him..but ur statement had no point...also...a person can get cosigned and be more succesful than the person who cosigned them...look at Curren$y...he cosigned Wiz...Krit...Big Sean etc and they all aside from Krit are more succesful than him mainstream wise..

word, real talk... the vast majority of people 1st heard of k. dot from hiiipower, off the strength of it being produced by j. cole

Coles singles and album had better reviews and were more successful.

Seems like too many people are cacs or old people who don't get to talk hiphop with other people than cats on here :what:. Cole World was well appreciated, the only real world disappointment was that it wasn't a classic seeing how his two previous mixtapes were considered by many to be classics.

Well I never said that Cole's album was a disappointment. I said that Big Sean's album wasn't a disappointment. Big Sean's album was a big part in catapulting him into being the star that he is today; saying that "it's considered a disappointment" is inaccurate, IMO. But if one doesn't like it, personally, that's their choice.

I personally wasn't feeling Cole World very much; I thought the singles were weaker, and I thought the production was boring. Too many songs sounded so much alike that I couldn't tell them from one another. It's weird, because I think Cole's perspective is one that's much more necessary in the mainstream rap perspective, but I think Sean makes better music.

But I'm also aware that the above is just my opinion. I'm not going to say some general shyt like "Cole's album is considered a disappointment" when I see the positive reviews and his strong fan base.

And I talk music for a living :heh:, so I definitely get to talk about it with people who aren't on here.

Not you, I'm saying people who say shyt like "everyone".

As far as the singles goes I don't know how a hiphop fan can fukk with Dance (ASS) with Minaj, the song with Chris Brown and Marvin Chardonnay with those annoying Roscoe Dash figures (probably the worst song Kanye has been involved with since The Bounce with Jay) over Coles with Missy, Cole World, In The Morning and the joint with Trey Songz.

Now on the question between who had the better album I can respect any opinion on that, singles.. I thought Sean had terrible singles target at 14 year old girls, all songs easily the 3 weakest on the album.

I'd say his highlights would be a gold album, plat single, 2 gold singles and a grammy nom.

I'm definitely a hip-hop fan, but I thought those were simply good songs - whether they were traditionally "hip-hop" songs or not. I thought Dance (A$$) was a fun record - I liked the Hammer flip, I liked how Sean played with his flows, and it was just a funny record. Plus, I like women' dancing on me, so there's that :manny:

I liked "My Last" because I thought it was a song that captured Sean's personality without compromising who he was too much, and I LOVED NO I.D.'s beat for that song. The hook was money, too. After seeing Sean try for that "hit" record for so long, I was glad to hear him make a song that was so digestible. It's not a lyrical miracle song, but I definitely enjoy hearing it on the radio or at a party.

I liked how Sean tackled "Marvin & Chardonnay," too. Again, he's not snapping lyrically, but I think Sean is really dope on singles because he has a stylistic approach to them; he has a dope way of mixing melody, flow, a catchy phrase or two into how he tackles *verses* on his singles. And the beat was inventive to me, too.

As far as Cole goes...
Work Out flat out sucked to me. It was the definition of a song, to me, that was an artist selling out for radio. I know how the game works, but it just sucked to hear because it seemed to contrast so much from the rest of his work.

The other singles were actually dope, so if I said they sucked, I shouldn't have. The singles are cool, but my issue (when the album dropped anyway, I haven't revisited it much since I wrote my review) was that his singles weren't nearly as good as the highlights on his album. I thought Sean's singles were dope, and I thought that his album cuts were dope. I never felt a decrease of quality between the two.
