I'm definitely a hip-hop fan, but I thought those were simply good songs - whether they were traditionally "hip-hop" songs or not. I thought Dance (A$$) was a fun record - I liked the Hammer flip, I liked how Sean played with his flows, and it was just a funny record. Plus, I like women' dancing on me, so there's that :manny:

I liked "My Last" because I thought it was a song that captured Sean's personality without compromising who he was too much, and I LOVED NO I.D.'s beat for that song. The hook was money, too. After seeing Sean try for that "hit" record for so long, I was glad to hear him make a song that was so digestible. It's not a lyrical miracle song, but I definitely enjoy hearing it on the radio or at a party.

I liked how Sean tackled "Marvin & Chardonnay," too. Again, he's not snapping lyrically, but I think Sean is really dope on singles because he has a stylistic approach to them; he has a dope way of mixing melody, flow, a catchy phrase or two into how he tackles *verses* on his singles. And the beat was inventive to me, too.

As far as Cole goes...
Work Out flat out sucked to me. It was the definition of a song, to me, that was an artist selling out for radio. I know how the game works, but it just sucked to hear because it seemed to contrast so much from the rest of his work.

The other singles were actually dope, so if I said they sucked, I shouldn't have. The singles are cool, but my issue (when the album dropped anyway, I haven't revisited it much since I wrote my review) was that his singles weren't nearly as good as the highlights on his album. I thought Sean's singles were dope, and I thought that his album cuts were dope. I never felt a decrease of quality between the two.
Interesting, I thought Work Out was as weak all Seans singles. At least I could play Work out at a a pre-party or something, but I could never play any of Sean's singles unless it was for my cousins sweet 16 or something. Work Out was however not on the album, it was added as a bonus.

That's why I mentioned the singles that were actually on the album and I thought all 4 were among the 4 best tracks on the album. While in Sean's case they were all 2 mics. while the album about 3.5.

Big Sean is a FAR more skilled rapper not just concept wise but dexterity.

If you listen to Sean's mixtape material and album cuts you know he only stunts on mainstream songs because HES BEEN THROUGH shyt.

You can't say hes not "educated" either.

:heh: Sean turned down a full ride to Michigan State to join a fledgling G.O.O.D. Music, then got shelved and almost dropped. Niccas act like he woke up doing bubble gum rap. Go get all the Finally Famous Mixtapes if you believe that.

lol I find it funny how you shyt on dude but praise your guy Kendrick Lamar who wouldn't be shyt w/ out Cole taking the L on his 1st album and proven to these A&R's you don't need a hit single to sell records. Lol nikkas only started checking for K. Dot when Cole gave him the cosign. Relax p*ssy's.

:why: lol this shyt is never mentioned, his claim to fame is what i mentioned
Ironically all those things happened AFTER he sold 700k.
To 14 year old Diggy fans and airhead bytches that might be what made him famous, but to hiphop and pop in general he was already famous and has not done shyt but tour and record ever since he moved those 700k.

I can't tell if you're agreeing with me? :ld:

Of course. Sean is a better artist than Cole. Cole has decent concepts but fails to execute those types of records, and has no mainstream records with replay value. Sean can give you decent concept records then turn around and produce a smash radio hit such as "A$$".
