Man he will be met by so much ignorance from his own people smh. With the mindset of this generation leaders such as Malcolm X, MLK and Garvey will be non effective. Sad to say but my people are lost.
Oh the irony.
Sorry for hurting your feelings, but truth hurts sometimes.
"Baseless rumors"
Did you ever see this ship that was supposed to carry people to Africa? If slave traders used those we'd all be back home flushing our shyt down gold pipes and looking at titties swinging freely. Garvey collected a lot of money. Can you explain what happened to it all? Because it damn sure didn't all go to buying that POS excuse for a watercraft.
Eason was a Garveyite who broke away, called out Garvey and started his own movement. These are called facts I don't know what the hell you're basing your post off of other than pure anger out of lack of knowledge.
No you moron,I never saw the ship because I WASN'T alive during the early 1900's idiot. And where the fukk are you getting all this bullshyt information about Garvey misappropriating funds? Garvey had money, but if you know anything about that time period, Garvey lost a lot of money on his Blackstar line venture. Plus the demonic federal government did everything they could to make his life miserable, with threats of deportation as well as accusations of embezzlement and fraud.
Eason was a good man to, but he was jealous of Garvey's influence and popularity, hence the reason he broke away to start his own FAILED movement. Debois was a c00n obsessed with sucking up to white folk, so a real nikka like Garvey couldn't jive with that fool either.
If there are legitimate criticisms of Garvey it would be he had tendencies of being a bit of a megalomaniac. He also tried to have the international community crown him the ruler of Africa, which is a bit outrageous as well. But overall, Garvery accomplished an enormous amount for himself and black people, despite the overwhelming odds stacked against him. The fact that an embicile like yourself can ignore all his accomplishments and attempt to libel his character shows your utter stupidity.
Unless your a cac, then your position on Garvey is completely understood. Either way, GTFOH.
Stopped reading here.
If you don't know about Eason, you just don't know. But don't get mad at me for trying to inform you.
so much self defeatism in this thread its disgusting

I figured you were a worthless troll.
*puts this fakkit on ignore*

I'm sayin tho, if you want Garvey to be alive in the 21st century why not just be a Garveyite?
In fact, there's great advantage to continuing some of the things he fought for. You can not only modernize the idea but also get rid of the deficiencies and side-step the temptations that influence a break from ideals. As oppose to talking about how people won't be receptive, or how we should even wish he was born in this time, actively finding creative ways to implement elements of Garveyism is not only a good method but something he himself would want. Truth is, his legacy lives through Black Nationalism and Pan-Africanism although they aren't exclusively phenomenons of Garveyism alone.
To me the issue is that people make bringing about these types of changes to be difficult, Pac said it best "One nikka teach two nikkaz, teach three nikkaz, teach four nikkaz, teach more nikkaz." If we want to lift up African peoples around the world then we gotta start small and bring slow tangible changes that can be measured in the day-to-day lives of those you wish to help. Jobs, gettin people sober from substance abuse and make them productive, re assimilating ex-cons, real youth outreach programs and initiatives, etc etc. You can't expect to suddenly lead the entire black nation to prominence if you haven't even addressed the people that's hurtin in your own neighborhood. It wouldn't be easy by no stretch, but it can be done.
At the end of last year, Haiti obtained associate membership status into the African Union.
This thread has inspired me to pick up some literature on Garvey;I'm heading to the bookstore first thing tomorrow. Please feel free to drop any suggestion, brehs.
