I could see them going after a first baseman still and have Bellinger be an outfielder.
Wouldn’t this be the perfect time to move Judge to 1st, or is that just a rumor. You could throw Bellinger in Center.
Walker wants 4. You ain't talking him down to 2.

Ideally, the lineup would look like this

CF Bellinger
LF Dominguez
RF Judge
C Wells
DH Stanton
3B Chisholm
SS Volpe
1B Rice
2B or 3B????

but if the Yankees somehow get Yandy Diaz, that settles leadoff right there
Come take squirrel. I bet he’d hit 20 bombs with stellar D in the Bronx.

Just a thought, Goldschmidt as a one year stopgap so he can platoon with Rice?

Not the worse in the world. :manny:
with Bellinger, he'd be the other platoon guy if anyone starts off slow.

I'd be fine with Rice batting 8th or 9th for a year til we bet on Murakami.

Signing Goldy just means Cashman believes he has 1 big year left in him (and tbf the logic to getting him would be the same as getting Bellinger), but Goldy looks a lot closer to Verdugo than Goldy even though the counting stats weren't terrible.

Timeout, Bellinger’s wife is Big G’s ex?

However, eagle-eyed fans have already highlighted an extremely awkward sub-plot in Bellinger's trade to the Yankees: his wife used to date Giancarlo Stanton.

The former MVP, 29, is married to stunning model Chase Bellinger, 27 - who was known as Chase Carter prior to their wedding in December 2023.

The couple have been together since the summer of 2020, which is just over a year on from the end of her relationship with Stanton - the five-time All Star slugger who recently wrapped up his seventh season with the Yankees.

at this point, Rice or a 1 year stopgap if they're petrified of their system still.
Cashman went out of his way to refer to Rice as a catcher when he was doing the winter meeting rounds, I don't think he's getting any run at 1st again unless injuries force it (if he's even still here).

I'm fine with this deal, especially just for Poteet and getting some cash relief back. We now have our SP, Bullpen and OF pretty much locked in.

We will still have Stroman, who could get something back in trade, or be the 6th starter/long reliever role for us. There's gonna be some teams in the market post-Burnes, starving for SP. Stroman, Schmidt and/or Warren or one of the kids in the minors can be put on the table for another piece, maybe a better than the available FA offerings.

We now need to address 1B and 2B/3B for 2025, at the least.

Carlos Santana on a 1 yr deal would be fine with me to lock down 1B. Walker on a 2-3 yr deal would be fine with me as well, but if he's not playing ball with us, we move on. Just someone strong defensively and productive at the plate. We don't need a 30 HR guy, as much as this lineup needs another player who hits for contact and gets on-base. I'm over the HR, K, and nothing else approach and outcomes at the plate. This more than anything burned us in the WS. Judge choking again didn't help, but where was the rest of the offensive gameplan???? Just not Alonso, Arenado or Goldschmidt on any deal, by any means.

I can begrudgingly hold my nose IF Bregman's the 3B option. He's good enough in the field and at the plate. Just the stench of the Trashtros comes with that. Jazz can go back to his more natural 2B position.

Honestly, if this offseason, and several prior offseasons, has not warned us off of penciling potential future FAs, not sure what to say.

We can win #28 in 2025 with a couple more moves now that hopefully pan out.

I mean, Giancarlo was living the life in Miami back then, with a huge contract. This was bound to happen at some point.

Hopefully, they can be mature about it and work towards #28 together.

So what does that do for Dominguez if he struggled in LF? Trade bait?
Easier pill to swallow with Bellinger in CF. There will be growing pains for Dominguez, both in LF and at the plate. Hopefully, fans understand that and are patient. I would definitely bat him 9th to begin the season. We've legit only seen him at 100% for a few weeks in Sept 2023. Keep the expectations down. Maybe he lives up to the hype, but we don't need to apply more pressure.

Is he even playing winter ball anywhere? Hopefully in LF somewhere getting reps out there.

Also, we have Grissom as the 4th OF for a reason.
