I see way more Superman tees than Cap and Superman is still one of the better selling comics. Cap is close on the big screen but not in merchandise.
It goes 1. Superman, 2.Spiderman and 3. Batman

More people know Superman lore, but most of them are old, married and more worried about raising kids, paying mortgages and making car payments. Kids/teenagers who are mostly the ones obsessing over this stuff and they have been blessed with the MCU. The MCU to them is what Star Wars was to us but actually even bigger.

I think everything is coming down to BvS according to the public even though it made bank MOS was poorly received. If BvS is another MOS then the DCU and all it's characters are pretty much done
but they seem to have faith since they've already started filming one movie and production on the others

I even think it is possible that Bats vs Supes is a good movie and well received and Superman's popularity still stays static. If they make Batman so much cooler than him in the movie then putting them next to each other might not be a good thing for Supes. He will seem even more lame in comparison.

Marvel can't do that with any of their characters except Spidey and maybe Wolverine. Imagine if the Cap 1 title was "The First Avenger" only, shyt would've flopped
