This probably doesnt' include marketing costs either, so put another 100 million on top of that
I always thought DLCs should be more common. Cannot understand why they'd invest so much money building the framework, so to speak, and then not bother to build on top of it.THIS is why I was completely okay with them raising the price of games to $70. Also why I dont get pissy when devs re-release games or horde DLC. At the end of the day if they aren't making money then we aren't getting these games.

https://www.gamedeveloper.com/busin...nsumer’s hands are actually more like double.I need to see where they spent 200 million on marketing
It was promoted heavily but nowhere near a blockbuster movie, and they don't spend anywhere close to 200 mill.

This is from a court document.People believing these companies telling you how much it cost them to make a game
220 million spent on what exactly
A game made by a 1st party studio for Sony...using nothing but Sony resources...releasing on nothing but a Sony system..."cost" 220 million...
Lots of numbers have come out due to these court proceedings.Do dummies like Meach believe hollywood blockbusters make no money as well
Believe "hollywood accounting"
Rockstar truly is the best in the world and this just proves it
Sony spent $220 million to dev TLOU2. Marketing costs are estimated another $200 million.
Estimating they probably bring in about $50 cash per sale(Considering retailer cuts, Bundles, Sales, Server maintenance etc) they didn’t even break even on TLOU2 until it sold about 8 million copies.
This is why GAAS, and Subscriptions, and DLC, etc is so important to publishers right now including sony.
This is one of the most successful highly rated and most talked about single player AAA games in recent history and it’s road to profitability seems very dire.
Devs are gonna have to figure out how lower costs or these types of games will become fewer and fewer.
It’s easy to lower the cost. Stop making these over expensive AAA games that want to be movies. Games don’t have to have these sorts of production values to be fun and enjoyable.
