Overall, I give the movie a 7/10. I think the
scene was very well done. People thinking it was thrown in for agenda sake haven't read the book. It helps kick things off in a major way. The fact that
were rendered to bit characters didn't sit right with me though. One of Pennywise's best weapons is controlling people (like he did with Bev's dad near the end of Chapter 1) moreso than posing as people themselves, so the fact that we got another jump-scare Pennywise CGI fest was meh in that respect. I will admit though that a top 3, if not top moment in the film, was
Mike Hanlon' calls to the other losers
. Did think it was cool that they went with a brief

Just some freeform thoughts there. I was entertained, but the movie did feel about 15-20 min too long. I also am giving some benefit of the doubt in that I'm not sure, after having loved the miniseries as a kid, as well as the book, as well as sitting through constant false starts on this remake leading back to the late-aughts, that anything could have lived up to my expectations.

the scene with the girl under the bleachers. The girl chasing the firefly into the dark...Pennywise's face in the shadows...this girl who was innocent and been bullied for her looks thinking :pennywise: was going to take away that birthmark...standing their neck exposed while Pennywise was counting to three. THAT is the kind of shyt that was needed more throughout the movie. That was the type of stuff that made you feel uncomfortable.
Mike Hanlon' calls to the other losers
felt really rushed, but I understand the time constraints as Muschetti wanted to focus on the flashbacks/token search
IT arrives scene, although if they were going to do that, they shouldn't have gone with a b*stardized Ritual of Chud scene and just gone for broke with what was laid out in the book.

Muschetti overdid the shyt out of this. Again, creepy Pennywise/quiet isolation would have been a go-to here. They did this well with young Stan/painting lady in Ch. 1. Instead we get the fun house effect with people ending up in different places (Bev bathroom, Ben clubhouse, etc.)
Final form Pennywise
had me like wtf. I'm like why is the damn clown head still on this spider. I actually though we were going to get a bigger version of what was shown in the IT arrives scene. I didn't mind the roasting session though as that actually is in the book (following the ritual). The Losers showing no fear injures Pennywise almost as much as the ritual does.
