In the case of the pandemic, the virus is said to live on surfaces, so products changing hands from all over the globe isn't good for containing disease. With that said, I think beefing up sanitation efforts is something that will help. Spraying products down, using UV sterilization techniques or whatever.
I was more referring to the the cons of globalization within the IT/Services sector where you aren't actually touching or dealing with physical products.

In what way?

What are the disadvantages from an employer's standpoint?

Supply chain disruptions and labor shortages. The companies that rely on China and others for supplies are at the mercy of the Chinese govt and it’s laws. And in the brace of a pandemic those supply routes are completely cut off. So even if the virus didn’t spread past China it would still disrupt life in America.

In terms of Labor companies who utilize Indian labor for support are SOL because the whole country is shutdown. If the support teams were in America it would be easier to transition them to work from home but India’s infrastructure is much different and logistically would be a nightmare.

Also IP theft imagine using Chinese programmers to build your product :mjlol:.

Currently going through this course as well and it's very well done. Starts a little slow but provides lots of good foundational knowledge and does a great job of introducing you into a lot of tools that are used in the security world.

I got booted :mjcry:

I've learned a lot in QA over the past few years, but I honestly should have left a while ago. That corporate environment was so draining and I rarely if ever felt challenged.

I'm going to have some down time now so I guess it's time to stop procrastinating and get these certs.
Coronavirus related or something different?

I believe @Splash is working on it at the moment. I won't be doing mine until later this year. Right now I'm trying to improve my skills with HtB and Vulnhub. Good luck with it.

How have your companies handled the WFH for all this COVID-19 mess?

I feel bad for brehs working at places where they weren't prepared at all for this :mjcry:

Brehs what is the best Udemy course for a beginner to learn about networks?

Grab any CCNA course from the current exam 200-301. I'm partial to David Bombal and he has a class with labs package on Udemy.

That's what I'm going through now. The labs are good.

Thanks for this. My job is pissing me off right now, I need to get my act together during this time and get out of there. I might come back here and ask more questions sorry and thanks in advance lol.

I don't think anybody should feel safe :francis:. At times like this, companies looks at the bottom line : Assets and Expenses :yeshrug:

You've value if you help them make money (Sales, IT Advisory, Account Receivables...) or keep shyt together (Sys Admins, managers...). If you're a self-employed consultant, you'll be one of the first to go:birdman:. If you're non-productive (they just don't like your ass or you just slackin on the job), they will get your ass out too :demonic:.

In my case, I'm in Cybersec Advisory and I had a meeting with my manager earlier, he told me I know you started recently but you need to bill as many customers as you can :hamster: and they are looking at what percentage of my time is billable:scust:. That's the kind of pressure he has coming from the top.

So here I am jumping on all type of shyt : Business Continuity plans, ISO 27001 projects, cloud security... As long as I can work on customers projects, I can help them make money. Sounds like I'm a bytch right :pacspit:. In times like this, you survive first and then figure shyt out latter

Honestly, that's what you should be doing. Take advantage. My manager said he likes the fact that I put the company first :mjlol:. I will NEVER do that. They have switched me teams, no complaints, they have switched my hours sure :manny:. At the end of the day, I am trying to leave this company with Cloud Sec(check), IDS/IPS(check), Endpoint Security(check), WAF and Firewall experience. Told him, I want to get trained on WAF/Firewalls next. This is for me, not for the company lol. In the wrong shytty hours, weekend on call is not for me but if things go as planned for the next year or so. I will have a bunch of stuff to load my resume with.

Word !

I played it the same exact way. When they look at us as team players, it's the funniest shyt ever :russ:. The more shyt we do, the more our stock rises:dame:.

I'm hoping they bring me on some audits and more shyt I have never done. :takedat:
