Honestly, that's what you should be doing. Take advantage. My manager said he likes the fact that I put the company first :mjlol:. I will NEVER do that. They have switched me teams, no complaints, they have switched my hours sure :manny:. At the end of the day, I am trying to leave this company with Cloud Sec(check), IDS/IPS(check), Endpoint Security(check), WAF and Firewall experience. Told him, I want to get trained on WAF/Firewalls next. This is for me, not for the company lol. In the wrong shytty hours, weekend on call is not for me but if things go as planned for the next year or so. I will have a bunch of stuff to load my resume with.

Exactly!

That's the mindset I wish I had in my previous job but now that I'm not working I'm taking it to heart. Take whatever they throw at you and bounce:lolbron:

I'm treating labs like resume builders now too:shaq:

Yup in for 90 days, you?
I got an 8 month old that wants to play all day now that I'm home :francis:

But I got 115 days till my birthday, i wanna try pass it by then, if not the day of:birdman:
In for 90 from Sunday. Have you started?

Ive done the course work about 2 years ago and was making my way through the labs before I moved house and had no internet for about 2 months

Now with this Rona lockdown I figured I get back to it. What’s your story?

Went from Helpdesk > Security analyst > Security consultant

It was fine for a while, been making a fukk ton of money tbh but it's never really been what I envisioned.
I HAVE to be in most days to meet with C level stake holders, i gotta wear a suit to work everyday and I'm travelling alot... and my work is no longer really technical which is boring.

Corona hit and I lost the 2 contracts I had but I have since had an offer but it made me realise i dont wanna do that shyt no more, so I declined and immediately signed up for OSCP (an idea i was toying with like a year ago)

I got plenty of savings and now I got the time too, there aint no reason I can't make my ultimate goal of working from anywhere in the world happen :yeshrug:

If you know how to do it from practicing over and over is it ok to put the labs you've done on you resume?

Thinking of creating a lab/ project section on my resume to help myself out when I start job hunting again

I would say no if it's just on the sim
You better off building a home lab and putting that on your resume

I've seen youtube channels where they do it for around $100

Have any links for that price?

I don't have money to spend like that

Hell
This can studying is almost hiring a whole notebook of notes. What apps you recommend for note talking? I’m thinking about getting Evernote.

Right now I am using
  • Google Docs (and I'm using its outline feature for structure & to quickly jump around the document)
  • Anki for flashcard review of my notes. (It allows you to paste images into flashcards as well as multiple answers and annotated diagrams)
  • Toggl (and Pomodoro Technique) for studying effectively/efficiently

Which is more valuable cert wise? AWS or Azure? Both got free training videos right now, but which one should I go for a cert for? :jbhmm:
