Hoping 2020 brings in good things for everyone.
Hopefully it brings me a new job. There are a few specific roles at Microsoft I'm targeting. I'm hoping that because you don't normally see them on Glassdoor or LinkedIn when you search for Software Engineer I'll have a better chance. Still in the process of refining my resume but I should have that done before the weekend is out.

I bombed an on site for them lol. I aint tripping because the Product wasn't really interesting at all it was just about getting the name on the resume. At this point in my career, I'm just trying to get something thats laid back and stable so I can use that capital for my plans in Africa. Not job is stress free and dealing with America layoffs are always a thing, but my last few jobs have been rocky.

When it comes to IT many people think its a good field for the introverted. Its really not YOU ARE going to be interacting with stakeholders a lot. It makes life much easier if your friendly and easy to get along with. SOFT skills are a must in IT. CS caters more to the introverted than IT does.

My coworker was let go for this very reason. He knew his stuff but had a weird attitude and wasn't approachable, or social at all. No one is saying be best friends with anybody but you will have to interact with people more than you think.
Yea I’m on the phones literally all day long, constant communication, also most times upper management also aren’t really tech people so it’s different

Can anyone recommend me an IT certificate to pursue? I never thought of IT as a career but people say its good if you know basic stuff about computers. I had some people suggest Microsoft certificates. But I dont know which ones. Ill look through this thread also. I have an associates degree in General Concentration. Im looking to start a better paying job as soon as I possibly can.

start with A+ if you are new to computers

if not, start with Network + or CCNA (wouldve said CCENT but thats being expired in February, I would still go for it if you think you can get it in a month)

hopefully other more experienced brehs can chime in

Python is the language I have been learning all year. I’m in love with it. Mastering that to go on top of my computer science degree I’ll have in a year and a half. I do some Python learning everyday and still feel like a beginner but it’s coming along nicely.

Back:shaq: anyone taking the cisa? I got both books for free online for the 2019. I am doing the practice questions so far and they seem pretty easy. At least the domain I am working on right now. I have my cissp already. So a lot of these things feels like a review.

what is the content like ? is it technical like ccna? from what I see its about "auditing and security" ?

This is what I recommend. I got my A+ certification because everyone said it was the best to start with which it was but if you know about computers already I would go browse some A+ stuff and go straight to CCNA

I LOVE the coding stuff more. When I develop a script and it works. The feeling of accomplishment is amazing. It also lets me use my creativity. You are set with a task and when you code there are so many ways to complete the task.

And I’ve read multiple python ebooks this year. It’s for my future work but I also enjoy learning it. Not going to lie. The first few months of learning it was rough but it clicks more and more everyday now. Even when I’m reading about the same subject in Python, I learn a few way of doing something. It’s endless.
