@2Quik4UHoes it seems like you have a good understanding of those topics of the sec+ you got this. Good luck. How much school do you have left? This is my last semester, I wanted to get the CCNA before it expires since I killed myself taking 4 courses cisco academy 8 weeks for each class without having much knowledge about networking made me dislike it. Since now that I have my net+ I understand it cuz I wasn't rushing. My next cert after the sec+ will be either the Linux+ or the CCNA most likely the latter.
The IoTs thing scares me because everyday people don't know about security and patching exploits and segmentation of their network; along with companies abandoning obsolete devices, it's going to be hell out there.

Lmao yea right, I just know more than I knew yesterday. I’m hella humble when it comes to this cert. I’m finished in February so I’m tryna get my certs done now so I can get a job ASAP. Don’t feel bad about an expired cert, I missed out on A+ this month because I got sick right after passing 901. I know I would’ve passed 902 but it is what it is. If you already know the material then you just need to study up on the new shyt.

Let me know how Linux goes. I was gonna get my Linux Essentials just to have some experience with that OS but if Linux+ is worth it I might fade it. I think people are eventually going to learn about IoTs and how serious it is to secure devices. It just doesn’t seem smart to me though, make cyber terrorism very possible. All it takes is one creep hijacking a car system or fukkin with infrastructure devices like traffic lights or water systems and shyt will hit the fan.

All ima say is never run recursive rm on root. Not even as a joke. I almost wiped everything important off of my host because of a shared folder I have set up... shyt, The Coli wouldn't even let me post the actual command its so dangerous :russ:

:mjlol:I actually like the command line but it scares me if you fukk up its a wrap. I'm super nervous about deleting shyt cuz its no get backs I just rename it bakup until I can verify its something I can delete. I try to use tab completion to keep errors at a minimum but me running root in the shell (or sudo) has me :sadcam::mjgrin::francis: until I get out with NO errors on MY part

All I remember from my Linux course was grep, mv, I gotta actually see it to start knowing. You install a VM yet? You can do that and install a Linux based OS just to fukk around and practice. I got Unbuntu on my laptop, it’s a interesting looking OS. I kinda like it actually.

Using the terminal only takes some getting used to. I can see it’s positives, sometimes going through the GUI can be tedious with opening file after file as opposed to just typing the command and pulling up the exact file. Keep at it bro, I’m definitely interested in your feedback. :tu:

Once you get comfortable Linux ain't too bad. I had it as my main OS for about a year when my laptop didn't want to run Windows anymore. Can't escape it at work. rm can be dangerous if you get sloppy, as I almost just proved. Call myself tryna get cute and joke, "run this and all your problems will go away :hubie:". My dumb ass :pachaha:. Almost had a situation that was never going to be put right.

lol bruh I have too many vms I have ubuntu server, centos 7 with gui, mint(with gui), popos(with gui). I play around with them and forget what I was using them for and forget the password cuz I haven't used them in awhile. I try use them without the gui but I get frustrated cuz I used a damn gui everyday.:francis:. I need to focus and pick one thing to learn instead of trying to everything I see on these youtube videos. I like grep with regex.Regex fried my brain so I ran from it. The semester starts back today so I'll get back to it. Once I can remeber where the config files are I need to edit and get comfortable with the file hierarchy in linux I should be find in the ternimal. I already created aliases for repetitive commands

When you it at work what distro do you use?
How much permissions do you have over files?
:mjlol: be careful in them terminal streets and don't be forgetting to close them backdoors :ufdup:before pushing to production servers.

Ubuntu on 99% of the servers I get on. I'm doing stuff with Docker so I have a couple of Alpine based containers, which are really lightweight Debian I believe. There's some CentOS and RHEL out there, but my team doesn't use them. I had Manjaro on my home laptop, which is Arch. Liked it and KDE window manager a lot. KDE runs like crap in a VM though. What you do is download KDE and LXDE, activate LXDE, then use the KDE visuals to make it prettier. Only thing I'm lacking is a transparent background on my terminal windows :francis:

777 on all files :win:. Nah, most things are least privilege required and corporate monitors our sudo usage. Any non-application security vulnerabilities is on the IT guys :hubie: I just write code .

Cool, I'm going to try KDE I don't know shyt about desktop environments but I keep seeing KDE come across my radar I tried changing shyt once and couldn't log back in I broke something so I trashed the vm. Now I take snapshots so I don't have to start over. :francis: you live and you learn.
Ok so, how fast does change management happen when you need to change something? What type of methodology your company follows agile or waterfall?

Manjaro - KDE Stable
That way you don't have to hunt for a pre-installed one. If you run Ubuntu you can find instructions but shyt never seems to work cleanly in my experience.

We're supposed to be agile but they write normal user stories that are probably epics, scope-wise, in a proper agile setup. In a nutshell, we're too big and resistant to change to properly do agile. If people would get on board, we could do it. But you put these folks an inch outside of their comfort zone and they'll fight to the death.

On what I'm doing, if I want to change something I can usually do it then and there because we aren't in production with it. But we're speeding in that direction so that ability is about to go away.

What'd you use to study for the RHCSA?

Man a bunch of stuff:

I got an O'Rielly subscription and used Sander van Vugt's courses (don't buy any of these use the free trial first.): Sander van Vugt | Pearson IT Certification

And this, it's RHCE stuff but if you learn it front and backwards you'll destroy the test.:RHCE Series: How to Setup and Test Static Network Routing - Part 1

Keep in mind RH8 just came so it might be better to study for the latest exam. To my knowledge there has been some changes but I'm not sure how much is actually different.

This thread is lowkey a godsend. I learned that one of the best things you can do when starting out in IT is to discuss it with other people getting into it or already working in the field. The more you hear the same shyt over and over the more you retain it. I’m not even going into Linux like that but reading the back and forth just now I was able to pick up some of the discussion.

That goes a long way later on if/when I do deal with a Linux system. We gon get this cert money coli brehs!
