So MCSE, CCNA & A+ = no programming just knowledge/skill/experience.

They're certs in different areas, but none of those have to do with programming.

A+ = Basic computer repair
CCNA = Computer networking using Cisco devices
MCSE = Certification for configuring and setting up Microsoft systems (desktops, servers, etc.)

If you don't have any experience, I would start with the A+ and not worry about other certs until after you get that.

After that, if you want to do work with servers you might want to start getting Microsoft certs (MCITP, MCP, MCSE). If you're more interested in networking you might want to work on Cisco Certs (CCENT, CCNA, etc.). But I'd pick one or the other, specializing is how to make money.

But until you have some experience, my advice is to get your A+ and look for desktop/helpdesk jobs.

:comeon: Some people learn better watching than reading a dry ass 1,000 pg book

Like I said, you gonna have a long ass career in IT :heh:

Yesterday I was reading through a Microsoft DNSSEC implementation guide. At my previous job I had to read though implementation guides for IronPort, MDM software, Symantec SEP and Symantec DLP. All of which were over a thousand pages each.

Why? Because you constantly have to learn shyt on the fly. Getting a certification is the easy part breh, that's just following a course outline. What you gonna do when the C level execs bring word down that you're implementing a new ERP platform and it's your job to figure it out :youngsabo:?

Now you gotta figure out Linux, Oracle, the application platform and how to get it all working since the vendor sold y'all on the software without getting IT's sign off :russ:

Cuts that studying time by a lot. Why :umad: tho?

:russ: I passed my A+ like 8 years ago by reading the book and taking the test in under a month. shyt I passed my CCNP Security by taking an exam a month. What do I gotta be mad about?

But what do I know, I'm just another lost nikka :mjpls:

man i'm lookin for entry level jobs in my area and they all want like a year experience or a field related associates. smh. i'm kinda thinkin about just goin to school...do yall think that would be the best option?...like say. I got my A+ and lucked out and got a entry level help desk job. do yall think I would have a better chance at making good money straight off an associates degree in 2 years with no experience. or workin help desk for 2 years. I know a lot of it depends on the company and your own drive. but from the looks of it, it's gonna be extremely hard to break in without experience or a degree.
