For those wanting to get an associates degree in IT. The University of Phoenix has some great programs. I know people that are :eat: well after finishing their program. They just added a new program: Associate of Arts in IT with a concentration in Cisco Networking. This is something you can do if you need to work full-time.

I make almost 6 figures. I have advanced Cisco certs.

If you get a CCNA or CCNP you are on your way

GNS allows you to build sophisticated emulated networks all on a PC with REAL IOS.

look to this site. I can help anyone who wants to be good with Cisco and Cisco VOICE
Graphical Network Simulator - GNS3

Senior Network Engineer

CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, CCNA-voice

soon to be CCNP-voice
Everything I know is self taught. Look into CBT nuggets

All these videos are also available on the internet if you don't want to buy, if you know what I mean....

I will advice you to start with the CCNA and work your way up. Be warned, it is super boring and sometimes hard but always have the big picture in mind. MONEY!

I hear a lot of negative ish about that school and how employers don't respect degrees from University of Phoenix. Should I not be listening to this?

If you want to work in IT, degrees from phoenix with no advanced cert is not respected....

i'm not sure. they were just doing a e-qip background check and called me to tell me the news:why:

E-Qip is used for an security clearance and if it only took an few weeks this was probably for the interim clearance so you could start work. The problem with security clearance jobs is until your clearance goes Final you can be let go at the drop of an hat if they find something. Or if you do anything that puts your clearance in jeopardy you can be let go immediately.

I wouldn't pay the kind of money University of Phoenix charges for an degree especially in IT. Anything you can learn there can be done with self study or an bootcamp for much less money. I don't know of any employer that respect University of Phoenix grads normally people who already have the job they want go there because their employer pays for it.
