Been in the telecom industry for 10 years with no degree or certs to my name and I’m doing quite well for myself but i feel like I’ve been cheating myself out my full potential

went ahead and scheduled the a+ exam two months from now before I even started studying to hold myself accountable.

before the year over i need to have my a+ and n+ under my belt at the very least

Is this first hand experience? With any proof?

As I work for a FAANG company and this simply isn't true without evidence and they also have career levels, stages and experiences in place that makes it not possible (unless it's deserved)

I'm involved in management/hiring at my company and know other managers and know that value is sky high unless you're at executive levels

We work at the same FAANG The proof is on the websites I cited. Did you look at them? Those sites break down everything mentioned in your post - Recruiters contact me about jobs that pay that much. I know people that make that much too.

I’m needing to get my weight up before I can expect to land one of those 300k roles. When they’re paying like that it’s reasonable to expect a code challenge interview and I hadn’t been very good at those tbh

Facts. Most people will never make that much. I just wanted to let brehs know it’s possible if they reach that principal level.

Was a field tech dealing with fiber optics, transport gear, switches etc and then I just recently transitioned into the data center side because I got tired of having to visit multiple sites a day(especially working in NY smh)

Just stoppin by to say I appreciate every single one of yall posts here. This by far one of the most helpful and instructive threads not just here but compared to many other message boards. I'm not in IT, im in Finance workin as an analyst side by side with an underwriter but I'm not sure if underwriting is the route I want to go in for my future, maybe a deep dive into fintech who tf knows lol. Been reading this thread for years soaking up game and might have to make that switch soon. Appreciate yall, stay up.

It's not for me I'm helping a family member transition into the field I'm looking to pivot into the product owner space myself from the telecom/networking space.
