Help me out guys..would this lead me to a cybersecurity career ? 2 year associates degree for $38k :patrice:

Truthfully, unless you know someone who can give you the job, a degree is not going to guarantee you anything. As someone in the field, I wouldn't advise anyone to pay $38k in hopes of landing a job in the field.

Edit:
Without going to deep into it, most of the courses are network related and only one of them looks like it covers security. You would probably be in a better situation by signing up for a CCNA course at your local community college and wouldn't spend nowhere near the amount of money.

That's corporate america. Why do your job when you can pass it off to someone else and get all the credit:francis:

right, I'm tired of being the one to step up, all these useless MFs who failed upwards in their career trying to go unnoticed to avoid being sniffed out so they wait til shyt get thrown in my lap

my biggest pet peeve is when MF wont respnd to our group chat in teams, but will send me a message in a separate chat like I dont peep game. Already put a few on blast to respond in the main chat with their questions, I'm done doing favors. MFs dont know how to do shyt they put on their resume but trying to get me to take point on everything, sink or swim time.

thats the move…

somebody hits you up on the side with questions about shyt they should already know …

“hey Bob, I’m putting this in the group chat just in case anyone else needed guidance on how to do this…blah blah blah”

I would stay put and stack certs if you have any semblance of work life balance. Normally companies who are desperate for IT workers are dumpster fires.

I see places like this all the time where the workload is insane. And they look to lure anyone in so they can do they can work you to death. Anytime you see a hint of desperation from a company always pass on them. They're usually desperate for a reason.

Too much :scust: a masters in cyber sec online at ga tech will cost $10k..

Everyone's path is different so there is no guarantee. There are history majors with a couple certs that go in.

Network plus, sec plus and ccna will do.

I really like this position, it’s chill in every sense of the word. Lots of downtime I’ve used for my aws studies

The CCNA is mentioned because networking is a core discipline when it comes to security. Like I said you will probably learn more getting that certification than you would paying that 38k. Nothing is guaranteed. You could get all the certs in the world and not get one call back. You could also get a CCNA and have a job the next day. What you should ve focusing on is what position it is you want and what you need to get there.

if you that set on going to school for it and don’t wanna self-study for the certs, try WGU

they are accredited , have CyberOps Bachelors and Masters, and the tuition is a flat rate per 6 month “semester”

just a suggestion .

For me, I just cashed out $250 for Boson and went to libgen and downloaded Exam Cram and Official Study Guides .. Imma try to get certs first , get a IT job again (been out the game for a year), then study for more certs before enrolling in WGU . They will give you credit for certs you already have . CCNA is like 4-5 courses satisfied
