Damn.....
SANS did the same thing 2 years ago made half their exam labs. Pretty soon damn near all these certifications will require hands on experience to pass them.

ICYMI: November news from AWS Training and Certification | Amazon Web Services

Major Enhancements to the AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate Exam
In Q1 2021, we will launch a beta phase for a new AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate exam. It will be the first exam to allow candidates to demonstrate their skills with exam labs.

:damn:

I have the SA already guess I should get the Sysops before the change
I think you have until May 2021. The beta exam with the labs starts in Mar 2021.

How to prepare for the upcoming AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate (SOA-C02) Exam

With labs, you will actually have to ‘DO’ one or more tasks in the exam. The information AWS has released so far shows this as a scenario style exercise. You are presented with an AWS account and asked to implement a set of tasks in a certain way.

Yep. Cybersecurity is an afterthought until something happens. It's going to be red alert for a lot of companies. Just imagine all the tools that hackers will now have access to because of this hack. This is just the beginning.
Tons of tech vendors are gonna get exposed selling vaporware littered with Security holes. I remember working at a company rolling out Solarwinds years ago. And their Engineer wanted us to exclude damn near every Solarwinds directory from antivirus scans. Claiming it would break the product if antivirus was allowed to scan it's files. I was like how about we add the exclusion if and when it breaks.

Most of these tech vendors will literally hire anyone off the street. Barely provide them with any training. And have them configuring black box systems inside Corporate Environments.

If Security makes a stink about it how sloppily things are being done they complain to management. Or they just secretly install this crap and expect Security to just rubber stamp it.

I've had knock down drag out fights over vendors wanting their product to have Domain Admin rights. Yet they can't explain why the product needs such elevated rights. I just refuse to sign off on it and let everyone throw a fit. If you want your product to work in our environment do your fukking job.

The bolded is always a fight because companies buy a product and then consult security afterwards rather than bringing them in during the initial vetting process. Then vendors and application owners want to get an attitude when we tell them no:camby:

Solarwinds is 100% fukked :mjlol:

me and my manager were talking about rolling it out next year for our network equipment but after this fukkery we both went like :whoa:
We tossed Solarwinds ass in the bushes last week and uninstalled all their agents. They've already started testing alternatives here. But we had to put a foot on infrastructure's neck to do so. They aren't the only game in town and the risk outweighed the benefits. There is no telling what other shoe will drop when it's all said and done.

I'm on vacation until the new year but I'm hoping we are in the process of doing the same.

I would hope so but you got some lazy ass people in most Corporate IT Departments. They couldn't even give a reason for wanting to keep Solarwinds. Besides just not wanting to do the work of moving to a different platform.

But if it turns out 3 months later other versions we're backdoored. Just sign off saying you'll take full responsibility if a breach is discovered. Not suprisingly they didn't want to be held accountable if Solarwinds software led to a breach. But it was perfectly fine for security to take all the risk.

After a 10-11 year decent career in sales I’m officially studying for my A+ certification via Udemy Mike Myers course

Love the sales money and people skills I’ve developed from it , but I’m really burning out on volatile “what have you done got me lately” nature of sales. I am also tired of selling products that aren’t my own that I truthfully don’t care much about. Also sales is a young man’s game and I’m not getting any younger. Figure if I’m going to make a move , it’s got to be now otherwise I’ll be stuck in sales forever

I have a degree in BIS so hopefully getting back in the swing of things isn’t too horrible. Wish me luck fellas.
You're wasting time with the A+ unless you're willing to work for minimum wage damn near. I would jump straight to Cloud certifications instead.
