You can but you just have to hit the ground running man and get those certs. It is never a guaranteed. Everyone in this thread has had different path and took L's along the way but something eventually fell through.

One of my boys got his PMP within 2 days of it on his linkedin, a big four consulting company hit him up and can potentially make six figures. The good thing about technology is that it is CONSTANTLY changing so if you learn a skillsets that's currently in demand, it is never too late. Thats why many here stay studying.

You need to network with people in your city already working in IT to have any chance. They can hook you up with jobs and y'all can share notes on certifications. That's the only reason I was able to break into the field.

Is it worth getting the CCNA 200-301 cert. What would be better if not?
How easy would it be for you to get hands on experience working with Cisco equipment on the job?

If the answer is not likely I wouldn't waste my time until I could get hands on experience at work.

Garbage field out of all IT Disciplines.

'We are outnumbered' — cybersecurity pros face a huge staffing shortage as attacks surge during the pandemic
  • The cybersecurity industry was facing a talent shortage prior to Covid-19.
  • As companies shifted to remote work, some cyber professionals were re-assigned to other tasks, including IT support.
  • Nearly half a million workers are needed in cybersecurity roles around the country.
Cybersecurity workers were taken off some or all of their typical security duties to assist with other IT-related tasks, including equipping mobile workforces, according to an April survey from global nonprofit (ISC)2, the largest association of certified cybersecurity professionals. The survey of 256 cyber pros found nearly half were re-tasked and that a quarter said cybersecurity incidents increased since the transition to remote work, with some seeing as many as double the number of incidents. Separate data from another nonprofit cybersecurity group, the Information Systems Security Association, found a 63% increase in cyberattacks related to the pandemic, calling Covid a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for hackers and online scammers.”

I’m studying it for more networking skills and clout

If you have no networking knowledge and want to get into networking then it’ll be good for you to know the basics

the network+ is not worth getting

Lol why do you hate so much :mjlol:. Being outnumbered is a good thing. I like the money and the ability to move but I genuinely enjoy the work WHAT I DONT LIKE are annoying ass clients who thinks you should figure out every detail.

Once companies have basically thrown up their hands and resigned to the fact they'll eventually get hacked. Those double-digit salary increases will be a thing of the past. That's why I'm getting out now for something they will continue to pay dollar for in the future. Don't say I didn't warn the rest of you.

Honestly, my next goal is to pretty much work fro a company like AWS. If I am going to work for something that's constantly evolving I might as well work for them. Once I am ready, I am shooting my shot. Highly likely I will be able to get in due to my previous experiences.

With that said the fines for getting hacked, violating data privacy laws will lead to companies continuing to invest in that sector. Its too much to lose.
