Sometimes I think that even that Goku was essentially an idiot except when it came to fighting, if Vegeta could let go of his foolish pride he wouldn't have tunnel vision on being the best and had bigger gains.

Goku was like an idiot savant when it came to fighting, honor, and strategy even when he took risks.

The only better tactician out of the Z fighters off the top of my head was Piccolo.
