the exception is Wade's to have if he wants to play, trading for Melo has no impact on that and Im sure if he wanted to come here Wade would be a big reason why. Nobody left this fool hanging a first time except for his agent.

You're right.
Toronto, Boston, Philly, and Indiana are the only teams clearly better than us. If healthy, we got the 5th seed. Hopefully, Whiteside becomes attractive enough for the Bucks and Dragic becomes attractive for NO (Holiday was better with Rondo running point) or someone else out West.

Don’t forget about Milwaukee and Washington, they have legit AS players we don’t. We’ll finish somewhere between 7-10. Low key the East is improved, don’t sleep on Detroit and Chicago.

Trading whiteside and tj for Melo isn’t even allowable bc the salaries don’t match.

Many are talking about signing Melo for 1/2 the MLE if he gets bought out. WHat do we have that OKC would want that wouldnt land them in the same luxury repeater tax they are trying to avoid? Remember you gotta come close to matching the salary in a trade. Or am i looking at this all wrong?

I wouldnt mind melo here if he gets bought out and letting him start at SF but limited minutes cause we need scoring but if he cold sit his ass down. Then we still need get rid of tj and hassan if he dont want to be here.

Wade is getting the mid level exception. think its like 5 mil. Melo would be on a minimum deal. those are 2 separate things entirely. one won't really affect the other.

I brought up trading TJ for Melo months ago for 2 reasons. one, thought it was a good deal for okc & it got Miami out of the TJ deal a year earlier because Melo's deal was expiring. with OKC getting rid of Melo for "tax reasons" more than "basketball reasons" they have ZERO incentive to trade him for anyone that has a contract that goes past this season(unless its a star of course). they have a payroll over 300 milly, 1st in nba history, they are repeater tax payers. they are trying get that down.

as far as Melo just coming here on a min. deal. ehh. I don't care one way or the other tbh. if he did come here, he'd be playing the 4, not the 3.

kevin love? why? I mean maybe. but only if 1. it didn't cost any draft picks. 2. any of the "Young 3" (winslow, jrich, bam). 3. they have a PLAN for 2020 free agency. which would mean they completely punt on any chance at 2019 free agency.

Because he can and will opt out of his final year making him an unrestricted FA in 2019. We could also unload one of those bad 4 year deals (waiters, johnson, olynyk) in the process

I also think we could get a 3rd team involved since cleveland isn’t necessarily looking for picks, they just want to unload salary and tank.

I’d give up Winslow right now if it meant moving one of those bad contracts.

Obviously, the Heat won’t do anything productive this year. I’m just throwing out ideas
