but what i don't get is that with lower incomes, it makes more sense for you to stay married because ppl can barely afford to live on their own...unless they will rely on gov assistance..even gov assistance is hard you trynna take 3 kids to school, etc....but even that is low quality.... Millenials are getting married more than previous generations BUT once the economy recovers, I have a strong feeling we will have a divorce epidemic. The black man has damn near been economically shut out and black women take in too much social media, black men ain’t shyt propaganda, and R&B to ever be satisfied. Throw in the fact that they are celebrated for leaving your ass, we have this.

A white bytch gets a divorce, it’s “I’m sorry that happened to you”. A black woman gets a divorce it’s, “Congrats sis, let’s have a divorce party”. Mind you, the white woman usually gets a financial windfall out of it while the black woman maybe gets child support.

You don't know many white people, do you. Because this is such a weird generalization with no real world basis. Women having parties or fun after divorce is not exclusive to black women, and given all the movies/tv shows/country songs/etc about white women doing this I have no idea how you got to this conclusion beyond just having weird views on black women.

Now that I think about it, all my brehs that married their college/HS girl (myself included) are doing well. Same with my wife’s college/HS friends.

Not really. A lot of those women were unhappy, I doubt y’all men ever got the stories cuz you didn’t get the sit downs with grannies, great aunts and older cousins. But those women had no choice but to stay married since most didn’t work and couldn’t provide for themselves or a family without their man.

This wasn't the case for most of the women in my family. And black women always worked. The SAHM lifestyle wasn't a reality for most of them in any era.

Divorce rates are higher amongst lower income people, given the proportion of black folks in lower income levels, I believe that plays a part. I believe the centuries of broken homes from slavery thru Jim Crow plays a part in it. And more recently, the imbalance between educational achievement between black men and women has likely played into it. Seems we just got more shyt stacked against us

The education gap/finances is what I see the most.

I have a gf in her 40s that is working on her masters in nursing. Her bf is in his 30s. He has no idea what he wants to do with himself career wise. He says he wants to drive truck but don't wanna pay for the schooling. He can't help her with much. She's over it and considering asking him to leave. Marriage definitely not happening there.

My x bfs x fiance left him because she finished Med school and moved for a job while he was in MBA school in their previous state. No Marriage.

My x, same one, don't wanna settle and be serious, because now that he has money and his own consulting biz, he moved to Colombia to be an instagram baddie (my opinion, he disputes this) and live like a king with his american dollars. No marriage.
