Whether the numbers are correct or not, us black folk do a LOT of talking ABOUT relationships but sometimes fail to do the WORK a successful relationship requires.
It means you have to work on YOURSELF first!
A lot of us don’t have great examples of what a good, loving, relationship looks like. Nobody wants to “put their feelings out there” or “get their feelings hurt” but that is the point of a relationship, to put your feelings and emotions in the trust of another…we do all the stuff before marriage, like having children (which is a LIFETIME commitment) but don’t go into happy fulfilling marriages…
People were made to love another, a good fulfilling marriage is work, but it will give you a lifetime friend and partner who (should be) as committed as you to make this thing work… we over-complicate things trying to “save/spare” ourselves the feeling or heartbreak…
