e-grow we are not talking about whether they are good actors.

he asserted that age means his action film peak has been reached.

clearly not true because there are tons of examples these days.

RDJ is in his 50's. Hulk is in his 50's. Thanos actor is in his 50's.

Brosnan/Dr Fate is probably in his 60's.

ChatBALLACKS is talking BALLACKS :hubie: .

You're right that it's not an age thing, Liam Neeson was like 56 when the first Taken movie dropped. But the point is Rock has exhausted all his good will putting out mid action movies the past two decades. If he can't even give us one classic franchise or even single classic movie by now audiences and studios are way less likely to take a chance on him.

This.

He's not the box office draw people think he is.

I'm a big Rock the wrestler fan, and I want/wanted that to translate to acting, but all his success came from pre-established ensemble franchise films. He should've been the next Stallone/Schwarzenegger. Anything that starred just him had underwhelming performance.

Black Adam finally revealed the veil on that because he hyped it up like it was one of the greatest comicbook films ever and it wasn't...arguably because he interfered too much in the production of it. Him fighting Shazam would've raised the profile of both films, but he fought against that.
As corny as they were The Gameplan and Tooth Fairy were pretty successful. So was Journey 2, Rampage, and Skyscraper. Ballers was a pretty successful series as well. I’m not even a The Rock fan like that but who’s been a bigger box office draw than him the past 15 years? There’s like 4 ppl and a few of them are only ahead of him because of marvel.

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
Here's the short of it: The Rock wanted to play Black Adam for ages and DC was all about it. However, the production of the movie took many twists and turns and Dwayne implanted many of his own people on the project, he was basically allowed to take near creative control of the entire thing. The budget ended up going completely out of control, some say it ballooned to over $250M.

So, he really needed it to be a big hit and it wasn't. It was a pretty big flop considering how much the budget was. The Rock also snubbed them on being in the Shazam universe until all of this was over with. Black Adam is the major antagonist to Shazam.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. merged with Discovery and has a bunch of new executives.

The Rock attempted a power play against WB/Discovery and wanted them to greenlight a sequel with him and Henry Cavill returning as Superman.

The new executives told The Rock to get the hell out of here with that and James Gunn (coming over from Marvel who is now the new President of DC) announced a slate of new DC movies and none of them are going to feature Dwayne.

The Rock found out a lot about trying to make power plays vs. multi-billion dollar corporations. Very few in Hollywood would have gotten away with it, Actually I don't think anyone would.

He is now trying to rebuild his image.
Well said.

The Black Adam debacle forced him to become less of an egomaniac.
Hmmm...he's more successful and wealthier than ever ..on just the Teramana and Under Armour sales, hes breaking records..that energy drink Zoa is apparently doing very well.

He signed back up but made them give him a movie aline again. Lol.

Dude is doing interviews with people he would’ve never done them with before. Also he was adamant about never working with Vin diesel and Tyrese again but he signed back up for fast and furious? Has he toned down his arrogance?

The rock treating Hollywood like it’s wrestling. You can’t just challenge an actor for the franchise and call it a day.

His corny ass was doing his best Maga superhero rendition in fast 5 and thought he was the star smfh :scusthov: ga

The whole gang coming together made 5 a classic :blessed:

You misunderstood my post. I'm saying he IS the biggest movie star in the world because he chose to do family friendly ensemble popcorn flicks. He should have kept that same energy with Shazam.

He got out of his space a bit doing Black Adam, which was a solo vehicle aimed at a slightly older demographic. And keeping consistent with his track record, ALMOST everything that he has done solo has underperformed and/or underwhelmed critically.

He had a flop, everyone does.

He needs to expand his acting resume and do some stuff not reliant on him having to take PEDs.

Don't want to see his heart give out or something tragic happen
The problem with his flop is that he took it on himself personally to try and prove that it wasn’t true instead of letting the media do it for him.
