The only people who feel like this are people who aren't budget gamers and or just don't like the idea of the system or something else that isn't related to the actual value you get purchasing a series s as a consumer that doesn't want to spend 500 bucks or more.

On the flip side, it's a upgrade in every way possible from a Xbox one or a PS4
There are other options available to get into real next generation consoles at under $500. There’s also the option called patience. Like said I’ve seen Series X consoles for under $450 on second hand market places like Facebook.

The Series S is a half measure. Never take a half measure. In the end such things usually end up costing you more.

For what it's worth, the Series S does have a reason for existing, and very real spot in the market, but @winb83 does have a salient point: how much as offering a value console actually meant this far?

I know what the immediate answer is "But it's meant to get people into Gamepass," but this there any info on the mixdown of Series S owners using Gamepass vs other avenues? Do we have a breakdown of how many Series S are being sold through as compared to Series X? And, as he said, Microsoft isn't moving as much hardware as the competition, WITH the Series S available. So, it's not crazy for someone to want to know what the long term viability of the Series S.

Man that's not how people or the world works, why do you think reselling of gaming consoles and games are as popular and profitable as they are?

The same goes for cars, a great example is getting a 8 cylinder vs 6. Getting a hemi vs a V6, the hemi is the best value easy. But not if that's not what you want, need or require. I can spend 35k on this v6 charger or 42k for the hemi.

As a car head, or someone looking strictly as value it would be silly not to get the V8

But maybe you can't afford that 100 extra a month on the note, or maybe you drive a longer distance so a V6 would be more gas efficient. Whatever the case maybe.. the "best value" isn't always the best purchase for a person.

The same can be said for the series s vs x. If I got a 36inch vizo and I'm good with it, I don't buy physical games like ever anymore and all I play is shooters, sports, fps and multiplayer and multiplat games. Why should I get a series x or PS5?

I'm just trying to upgrade from my PS4 or xb1

We talking about a math level a 4th grader can do.

I can spend less upfront and pay more for games since the only option is digital at the mercy of a single storefront and long term need extra storage (since you just get 512GBs) costing me more long term or I can spend more upfront and save money later.

When you get access to physical games you can buy them second hand. You can get them from stores that run sales that the Xbox marketplace isn't running. You can take advantage or price errors digital coupons, retail promotions and other sales. You can trade and loan them. Just those options will get you back that $200 over the span of ownership and then some.
4th grader can't don't math like that when they smoking breh, stop playing.

And I'ma grown man that enjoys playing video games. I manage an office setting and I have a business outside of my work, don't have a lot of free time.

I didn't even want a new system. Bought this so I can play 2k myeras and some myteam. It is graphically above last gen, especially the crowds, so I'm happy

All that buying and reselling u do as a teenager, I don't have time for it, so this works for me. Can a breh be happy without the unnecessary criticism?

My son wants one just for backwards compatibility to the 360, I asked him if he wanted a Series X since it’s better but he was like I don’t care about Xbox exclusives :dead:

So yeah I’ll be copping him one of these next month for his bday
