Their sales are still noticeably behind PlayStation and a portion of those sales include the Series S. That is a system made to come in an a more attractive $299 price point so Xbox could say we have a $299 next ( current now) generation console. It's also not beyond notice that well before the supply issues of the PS5 and Xbox Series X were resolved the Series S could be found and had easily. The majority don't want this they'd rather spend more for the premium experience.

This thing exist to appeal to what amounts to budget console gamers. It's a terrible value proposition. It doesn't have a physical disc drive, it lacks in storage, it's inferior in specs. It's a cut rate console for people who walk in and let price over value and functionality determine what they buy. It's like when Apple made those cheap plastic iPhones. shyt flopped and they stopped doing it. Hopefully this never happens again. The point of a console is standardization.

Now this thing exist for a whole generation and it holds things back to a weaker spec. Microsoft has a history of cutting corners on cost to get out an inferior experience for budget buyers. I remember the Xbox 360 didn't have a hard drive standard and it was a point of annoyance for developers an Microsoft for a while demanded games support the one without the hard drive. Eventually they allowed games that required a hard drive.

The only people who feel like this are people who aren't budget gamers and or just don't like the idea of the system or something else that isn't related to the actual value you get purchasing a series s as a consumer that doesn't want to spend 500 bucks or more.

On the flip side, it's a upgrade in every way possible from a Xbox one or a PS4

Series S is $240 for Black Friday at Costco. idk if thats the best deal that will be out there.

if its cheap enough it could be a great machine for gamepass. i saw it can emulate everything
Its often being sold for $250 with and extra controller so :francis:
It'll eventually be sold at Walgreens on a clearance endcap with candy.

Failed console.
Right next to your failed post
when you gotta write next gen in quotations, its not next gen.

Kids are going to want to play some games, but they not getting a $500 console.

The only thing wrong with the Series S is no disc and not enough storage. I mean there's barely room to put a few games on there. I both have the Series X and the Series S. I bought the S but the X came in stock. I just never returned the S. It's good for packing up and taking with me when I hit the road.

What the hell :snoop:
Breh u broke this down like a financial expert and I'm just trying to play the latest 2k

We talking about a math level a 4th grader can do.

I can spend less upfront and pay more for games since the only option is digital at the mercy of a single storefront and long term need extra storage (since you just get 512GBs) costing me more long term or I can spend more upfront and save money later.

When you get access to physical games you can buy them second hand. You can get them from stores that run sales that the Xbox marketplace isn't running. You can take advantage or price errors digital coupons, retail promotions and other sales. You can trade and loan them. Just those options will get you back that $200 over the span of ownership and then some.

I know this discourse is fulled by console wars, but i think people are really missing how significant the series S is or will be.

It’s no secret we are heading toward a worldwide recession. Tech prices are going up(see PS5). Chip shortage is still a thing. Inventories and supplies are still down. It will be a long time before Series X or PS5 get a price cut.

The series S gives lots of people access to “next gen” that otherwise would be priced out. Gives devs/publishers a larger user base, so they can leave “last gen” machines behind. And gives games larger communities.

Y’all sell digital games short when u say stuff like this.

There are plenty of ways to save money on digital games y’all conveniently forget.

Game sharing. Digital Sales, Subscription services, etc.

A very price conscious consumer will definitely come out better with the Series S

you gotta realize that a lot of the people buying this console are gonna be parents. and some can probably barely afford a Series S. they can get their kid a Series S and Gamepass, and be done with it

they ain't trying to spend their time hoping to come up off pricing errors :dead:

The Series S is a great second console to have. But if I had it as a primary console, I’d be mad as fukk. :mjlol:

Your calculations don't include the cost to pair a high-end console with a high-end tv or monitor.

Acer Nitro XV272U Pbmiiprzx 27" WQHD (2560 x 1440) IPS G-SYNC Compatible Monitor, 144Hz, 1ms VRB, VESA Certified DisplayHDR400, DCI-P3, Delta E<2

I got this new for $289. It costs $469 today. For $600 bucks I don't think I could have done much better.
