It's not a narrative

It's facts. Draymond Green has had no issue admitting his offense is a product of Curry.

Obviously Green is an excellent defender, one of the best ever of course.

People will chip at Bird, Wilt, Kobe, and even Shaq, for sure.

And personally, it's hard to really even call Durant a #1 for those rings.

Shaq was a real #1 becuase he was getting the most defensive attention, and still put up the numbers. Same with other number 1 options.

As where KD was getting favorable looks.

"Beg Durant to join" well, Magic entered a Lakers team that had Kareem there for him (who yall call a top 3 player) and his team drafted Janes Worthy. But we don't knock Magic for that.

"Missing the offs in his prime". Well Kobe missed the playoffs in his prime. So did Kareem, several times in fact.

"Subpar start" - not only did he have ankle injuries, so it's not as if he stunk, but he was also drafted into one of the worst organizations in pro sports. The team made the playoffs once in the prior 15 seasons, and only won 1 playoff series in the previous 20. And his rookie year he made all-rookie team, 2nd year they didn't progress, but they had another coach and he was splitting time with Monta Ellis who was another ball dominant guard who didn't pass much.

The reality is that older players have the benefit of playing... decades in the past. So they don't get scrutinized much.

I am kinda with you on the Durant thing, I guess my hang-up currently is:

•Durant was and has been a great player for longer than Steph, and was viewed for several years as the second best player next to LeBron right up until Chef's '16. Even then there was no solid majority willing to put the wunderkind Steph who blew up into an All-Timer outta nowhere in like a 2-year span over Durant who had been an elite player for well over a half-decade...

So the fact that Durant was elite for longer carries some weight to me;

•either way its sliced, once Durant went to GS they had the second and third best players in basketball on the roster. Regardless of who one wants as #2, but i do know the consensus of the time, of that 2016-19 period they were together, was that not only was Durant the Dubs best player but he was arguably the best player in basketball period...

Nobody was having "best player alive" conversations about Chef after Durant came. And you know I'm far from a Durant homer but I do feel a way about rewriting that window in time contrary to what the popular opinion was in real time...

It was always recognized that Chef was the focal point of the defense, and overall the engine that made that Warriors machine so hot...

What i will say is that compared to many other greats, if not most, including Steph if their careers continue playing out in this fashion, KD is not the same caliber of #1 that other guys were and its going to justifiably hurt him when cats talk about his historical standing. Including comparing him to Steph; while I think the 3 years they were together KD was the best player, the totality of their careers while they weren't together favors Steph pretty clearly and could end up doing so demonstrably....he's almost certain, unless Durant goes on an unlikely late-career run of dominance, to finish his career sufficiently and comfortably ahead of KD...

We need rep back...

Badly!

Rather be known as the best shooter ever who forever changed the game from kids league to NBA than 2nd best with a horrible finals appearance.

I rather be a mt rushmore NBA player than known for kids/players shooting more 3's

Dont need to be the more talented player to be considered his era. If steph wins this next championship, some discussions will start to be had, and it will be pure fukkery overload :blessed:

KD is my favorite player (although this season was very disappointing imo) - but if Steph and GSW win a ring this season, I gotta put Steph ahead of him officially.

But I always say GSW as a team and organization just runs so smoothly. Steph is fortunate to be a part of a well oiled machine that maximized his talents.

That's what made KD join them tbh. He saw how their system worked and bought into it. Now we see how a bad system (BKN Nets) can look even when you have 3 HOF players.

OTT, Lebron is still in a different tier above Steph and KD to me. Yeah he team hopped a lot but I don't think Steph or KD could have won 4 rings by team hopping. It's not as simple as build a super team and win it all.

Lotta nikkas tried teaming up and we have all the examples. Cats really act like anybody could have done the things Bron has done

Never winning the FMVP to this point doesn't hurt him though because we all know he was the best player on the '15 Dubs, and being the best player on a title team is far more relevant than winning the FMVP.

Yes an no, we all know he was the engine and best player on that 2015 team but his other 2 title are a bit different in that the perception is that Durant was the better player but Curry was the engine. If Durant doesn't go to the Warriors, Steph most likely doesn't win those next 2 titles but in the process, he actually self-ethered himself and lowered his ranking. Since modern day basketball heads have put an onus on having Finals MVPs because of Jordan, those players who win titles and don't win that specific award are perceptually diminished in the role they played, for said title. So Curry to a degree, is hurt by this reality.

If Steph and the Warriors win their fourth championship this season would Steph impact and era be bigger than Lebron???

I think when it all said and done Steph will be remembered more than Lebron for changing the game and being the greatest shooter ever. He will also have a better finals record as well and could probably win more.
Yeah, it dents LeBron for sure. He ain't winning like Jordan, but now he ain't winning like Curry? Calling him the GOAT has been a joke, but it would be extra silly after that. LeBron will never live down 2011, just like CP3 got the benefit of the doubt but after this post-season he's done and a confirmed choker clown.

Honestly, I hope Steph doesn't win a FMVP, but wins multiple more rings.

Why?

Because then we can really compare LeBron and Curry in their correct context.

Which "player system" is better?

Bron ball or Curry ball

Selfish vs Unselfish

Individual Stats vs Team stats
