There's no "GOAT" female rapper because female rapper doesn't have the respect or market share to be anything truly influential.
The idea that Nicki can be the GOAT rapper when she's spent her whole career making trash music and shaking her azz tells us how bad the female rap scene really is.

When did we ever use billboard entries to decide the GOAT is come on breh...

“We was praising bilboard but we was young”

No female rapper is above Lboogie talent wise bar for bar she’s up there with Andre Nas Jay Mos Def and co, Nicki can never get on this level she isn’t good enough lyrically, and Lauryn shyts on her musically too.
She’s not on par with them dudes. Her main appeal was that she could sing equally as well as rap. If she had stuck strictly to one or the other we ain’t talking about her right now

Nobody would care about a Lauryn album in 2023. I don’t even see how y’all think that. Her claim to fame these days is one album over 20 years ago and showing up late for shows. If she even shows up. This ain’t the Chapelle Show era
:heh:

Her verse did make a lil noise, not gonna lie, but outside of the hardcore heads no one would really care

These kids are gushing over Ice Spice now :pachaha:

Yea there was a little buzz when she appeared on KD2. But the verse wasn’t all that to me. And don’t get me wrong. Lauryn is a legend. But in 2023 if she dropped an a album there would definitely be some buzz nothing that would make the world stop

Mariah Carey is too three as far as female sales if I'm not mistaken, her last album in 2018 didn't do that well, and she was in the public eye a lot more.

Legacy artists rarely make that kind of noise... Lauryn Hill is no exception.

Lauryn is the exception Lauryn was selling better than Mariah in 98, go check the stats.

What did Glitter sell like what 4 mill, what did Miseducation of Lauryn Hull sell, like 20m? Don’t even get me started with The Score.

Lauryn is a one off, if she dropped tomorrow you will have a whole generation of women and men age 35-60 that would support her plus the youngins who revere here because that’s who their mothers and sisters were playing when they were young, don’t get her impact underrated you’ll have the likes of everyone from Adele to SZA to Summer Walker to Jhene Aiko and Nicki Minsk posting herself posting her album if it dropped tomorrow, the free promotion would be out the world and it would shut down all these women centric blog pages like The Shaderoom and Spiritual World and Black Twitter especially if it is good.

Mariah ain’t the same she doesn’t have the same allure and she’s never really stopped dropping albums, the biggest Rnb soul singers in the world right now literally have Lauryn Hill as one of the biggest influences I assure you that.

Most people that are 35-60 don't consume music like that, that's why the target demographic is 18-35...in the real world. Do you really think that most people over 35 give a fukk about supporting Lauryn Hill? Especially when a lot of them have concert horror stories of her?

Do you think these Generation Z kids give a shyt about what their parents are listening to en masse? Bruh, snap into reality....it'll be the hardcore fans of her and that's it.

The 30-40 year old generation would be enough to generate a large amount of sales when it comes to an artist like Lauryn and don’t understimate the interest she draws from those younger as well, you won’t find a 25 year old black women who don’t know at least two songs of Miseducation, get serious

Of course Gen z or whatever generation care what they’re parents listen to, that’s why you have a hundred threads on 90’s Rnb everyday on Twitter and The Shaderoom, Lauryn if she drops tomorrow would not only sale more than Mariahs last solo but she’d be one of the biggest female artists sales wise of the year, she would quite easily go platinum it’s Lauryn Hull! She’s only released one solo, if the album is good she’ll have enough buzz from the whole industry and fans to push the albumn without promo.

I swear you nikkas couldn’t work in the music industry, your opinions are out of touch, Lauryn Hill isn’t a normal legacy artist at all.

Black women going to support Lauryn Hill like white men support Eminem, her song with Nas literally has the same amount of views as Eminem’s song with Nas on the same album, this should give you just a small inclination on how highly she’s received when she drops anything relating to music.

Lauryn had writers, going off your kins qualifications she can’t be in that discussion. Lauryn for nikkas that want to prove they different so bad, amazing artist but she isn’t Andre 3000 lmao. No one puts Mos Def in their top 10, she’s basically Mos Def with more commercial success
Lauryn didn't have writers. The complaint was for her album "all songs written, produced and arranged" by Lauryn. The team wanted more credit and money for being more than session musicians, as they are credited. She Prince'd it, not Kanye'd.

Y'all really tryna bash Lauryn like she's some C-tier artist. Hell, for all of Lauryn's concert MIA's if she announces a show, it'll still be sold out, as if they forgot about the last one.

The only thing Nicki has over everyone else is longevity and visibility in the mainstream. Is that enough for GOAT status? The rest of them stopped doing music after 5-6 yrs. She doesn't have the best skills, she doesn't have the quality musical output, hell she doesn't even have many male fans.

How can people say her influence or impact is greater than those that came before her? There aren't even as many female rappers as there once were...and she's a branch of older tree as far as style. Hell, her eccentric flow is her only distinctive feature, and you could argue that came from Missy.

Even her style influence isn't greater than a lot of those before. If so, you missed all of the style influences from others. Left Eye oversized men's clothes...Queen with afrocentric home girl, Lyte with the around the way girl, Lauryn is a branch of Queen but added the hippieness angle, Rage with her all natural militant ish...Kim & Foxy with the euro labels they couldn't pronounce, and sheer ish...Remi, Eve, Boo, Mia X taking it back to the streets with it...they all had waves that reverberated for periods.

or maybe you're not taking record sales into account, there are way doper female lyricists than nicki, if you talking bar for bar, but if you're talking skill + records sales, then ok, tho i'd still take missy over her in that instance - missy is the best all around artist + had the sales + produced & wrote for others
Always an excuse :russ:
