Tbh this is tougher than yall make it out to be. NFL hof aint easy and you kind of have to have made a name yourself and done a little more than just really good. Breaking records and dominant seasons and performances in the playoffs. Mike Evans is on the borderline hall of very good. I wouldn’t be upset if he eventually got in though.

Exactly, which is why, as usual, my thread is an excellent thread.

He's been very good and consistent. If that's your HOF criteria, he may get in. If your criteria is GREATNESS, I wouldn't put him in.

Now that receivers have an extra game to get to the 1k bench mark the threshold needs to be moved up.
Hôlt and Andre Johnson aren’t in yet, it’s difficult for above average receivers to get in for a variety of reasons.

Kind of reminds me of Jason Witten. Maybe not like Tier 1 of his era. But, dude just went out and put up numbers every year. The fact that Evans seemingly gets a new QB every couple of years of his career boosts him up in my book.

But, he also may run into the problem that plagued guys in the past like Chris Carter, Andre Reed, Tim Brown, or more recently like Isaac Bruce. Or what is keeping guys like say Torry **** and Reggie Wayne from still getting in.
What problem is this?

I dont see a case for Evans over any of em... He probably next but there other nikkas who was clearly better peak for peak like Michael Thomas but Evans should be applauded for his longevity and consistency. Even if he was never a top tier WR1/2 candidate. Like there nikkas now like Jetta and Chase who are just better than Evans ever was even tho you obviously wouldnt rank either ahead of him all time as of 2023.
Outside of Hopkins and Green all these players have had HOF QBs throwing them the ball most of their careers. Mike had 3 years of old Brady. Put him in New England or Green Bay who knows.
That's due to NFL politics. He would have had multiple all pro nominations if he played for Dallas. We all know how this works.
Eh...plenty of players outside of blueblood teams get All-Pro selections. Tampa not being good outside of Brady has more to do with it.

People here be overrating players from the past too much and acting like all of them were putting up crazy seasons every year of their career that are unthinkable
To be fair some past WR seasons were strong relative to era. This is more about undervaluing longevity at the "very good" level as if most players can be that for 10+ years.

I love when fools gatekeep the HOF for players whose stats are literally on par with HOFers :mjlol:

It has nothing to do with gatekeeping. There are those like me that think the HOF should be for the most ELITE (peak and prime are more valuable than sustained longevity), and then there are those that believe someone who has had "very good" seasons for a long period should get in.

Mike Evans is an excellent player. He may get in one day, but I don't think he's been elite enough over the course of his career to get in. People keep mentioning the 1,000 yard seasons as if this is some magical number nowadays. What happens if we ask how many 1,400 yard seasons a player has had? That's certainly more "elite" than 1,000 yard seasons.

1000 yards has always been a "magical" number though...

Which of these WR's should Mike Evans make it in over? I'm saying "over" because some have had to wait and we have people in here saying Evans is a first ballot HOF lock.

I'm not saying I'd put all of these players in over him, but who are you DEFINITELY taking Mike Evans over for the HOF?

Andre Johnson
Steve Smith
Reggie Wayne
Ochocinco
Tory H
Wes Welker
Brandon Marshall
Julio Jones
Antonio Brown
DeAndre Hopkins
Tyreek Hill
Devante Adams
