shocked at the responses in this thread, i thought speaking ill on MJB especially in BP was considered blasphemy.

i really thought he was bad in some parts, especially the "is this your king" scene.
That scene felt like it was in a high school play, and the line delivery had no real passion behind it at all.

No bass in his voice, he didn't even change his voice at all. It just sounded like Michael B Jordan was reciting a line, not like an enraged villain that was taking over a people.

I can’t even lie, it took me 3/4 days after the premiere of the movie to see it, so I had seen the “Is this your king?” memes before I saw the movie and when I saw it I was underwhelmed.

The memes had more authority to them than the live-action scene lol

But Mike’s OK with me.

Everybody doesn’t have to be an all-time great to get work.

You could have picked a regular amateur dude off the street with no previous film experience and had him act the lines and they would have come off the he same way as they did in the movie. He had no "actor authenticity" at all, he just comes off like a guy that's in movie with no acting training or coaching.

It was like they just grabbed a dude off the street and he did a movie. I would have given them the same type of performance, and I've never acted before in my life. That says a lot about a "professional". And he's like that in every role he plays.

Even the line he recited before he died, I just didn't buy it. His acting has no weight to it.

He is not a good actor.

In fairness to Baby Creed @Ironman

Just listen to his delivery in this TV spot. Why didn't they use this version of dialogue instead of the one in the movie? Delivery is much better and way more threatening.

Its possible that his performance as Killmonger was stripped down due to running time and editing. In Creed, because its a smaller story, the camera would linger and allow him to really emote.

Its possible that in the much longer cut of the movie that we get more nuance from Killmonger. Also since its a different editor (Spiderman Homecoming...yeesh) from Creed/Fruitvale its also possible that they chose the more hammy/typical villain takes.

I mean look at how they shorted Kaluuya with this amazing acting scene. :gucci:
