he wasnt really acting in that

he was just a regular hood breh

which is kinda exactly what he was in The Wire, Fruitville station and Creed come to think of it

:patrice:

That’s an assumption that he wasn’t acting tho:russ:

You can only say something like that if you know the dude. And according to him he went real method on that shyt. Kept a diary of stuff Killmonger would think and feel, didn’t talk to anyone, kept himself isolated etc etc

He can act tho. He’s not Denzel or Daniel day but he doesn’t have to be yet. He’s really good at portraying emotion and getting you to be on his side in any role he’s in which is the main skill you need as an actor. I believe him in everything he does or says regardless of the role

his acting career can pretty much be summed up as the type of roles Tupac would be doing if he was the same age during the same time period

And clearly Pac was acting lol. He just couldn’t let that character go. Although I can’t see Pac playing creed or montag. Nor could I see him playing the guy he played on parenthood

morgan, denzel and poitier are practically acting royalty and I dont recall seeing them in a dress. Micheal b will always have his legion of fans based off the wire and his work with coogler but hes clearly a limited actor
how so?:dwillhuh:
He gets by in charisma despite stilted line readings and iffy emoting.
Take Killmonger as the prime example...dude was all charisma in that role. There was much in the way of great capital A acting going on. It was all strength of personality. It is the same thing going on in his performance in Creed too.
It was the same reason he was the only thing not awful in that shytty Fantastic Four movie, the strength of his natural charm/charisma made his Johnny Storm stand out amid the garbage.

I have never been convinced by his emotional acting. It never seems natural to me when he is called on to evoke emotion in a scene. There might as well be flashing letters going "HE'S ACTING!" when he is doing emotional scenes.

I’m always convinced by it. But clearly that’s the shyt that’s subjective. shyt most acting is. The mechanics of it are one thing but when it comes to feeling what’s on scene and what’s supposed to be conveyed it’s all subjective.

he's okay. yeah he has room to grow and blah blah blah but i think this might be the peak for him. we still waiting on the next denzel

farenheit 451 showed him in a "different" role and besides the movie being redbox status, his acting wasnt anything special

He's terrible man, and I'm not a guy that really looks for bad acting when I watch a film. I just want to be entertained.

You have to be bad at an extreme level, for someone like me to notice. His job on that HBO movie was terrible. He was terrible in Black Panther to me. It's just too hard to ignore, which is why the OP made the thread.

I don't understand it, as he started out as a child actor. I want him to do well.
