the crowd of MSG was so enamored by vitali they gave him a standing ovation to a euro!

foreman would've been KO'd, lets be real foreman didnt have any defense. sure he hit hard. doesnt matter. tyson use to dodge and block punches back in the day.

and talking about his resume. is it his fault he made very good fighters look like chumps? if you say it is. then Jordan is overrated as well. who did he beat in their prime? not the greats in their(bird, magic(wasnt prime lakers, and they were hurt), detroit(nope, he lost to them in their prime). but yet we call him the GOAT. how so? he played and beat everyone in a watered down time in the nba. sure there were other stars but not playing his position. but yet we call him the GOAT.

The facts are he ducked Foreman. When he was a teen him and Cus would watch film and Cus told him it was suicide for a fighter with Mikes swarming style to fight Foreman. He held Cus' word as gospel. Thats why himself said on Oprah he couldn't beat Ali, cuz Cus said it . Tyson and Foreman both refused to fight Earnie Shavers

anyone who thinks tyson was overated dont no shyt about boxing
tyson is da youngest heavy weight champ of all time
he was a lil kid beatin da shyt out of grown ass adults
he was da undisputed champion
went to jail for 3 years
came back
and recaptured all of his belts:ooh:
say what u want, but dats one hell of a story

lets face it, if tyson didnt go to jail, and fought holyfield in 92, he woulda beat da shyt out of him
and tyson wasnt even in his prime at dat moment. dis dude was catching l's to michael moore:stopitslime:

if tyson aint go to jail, riddikk bowe and mayb even lennox lewis would fought him in da early-to middle 90's and woulda got fukked up

remember, lennox lewis got knocked da f out by oliver mccall

later on by rahman

tyson woulda killed him
den everyone on here would be sayin riddikk bowe and lewis and etc aint shyt

and dis is just tyson post ruddock, where his pure boxing skills were deteriorating but he was motivated and still had enough in da tank

when he with kevin rooney and at his peak, very few heavyweights standed a chance

if tyson aint go to jail, u guys reallly think michael fukking moore and george foremon woulda been fighting for da heavyweight championship of da world?:stopitslime:

most these guys only had careers cause tyson was gone:yeshrug:

u gotta use common sense dog
im sure he meant da foremon in his prime
not fat, 40 somethin year old foremon:childplease:
his style and weight were very different in his prime
tyson woulda killed him in da 90s
in there primes,it coulda gone either way
but foremon had reach and mayb even da power advantage over tyson so it definitely woulda been rough for him

All i see is a bunch of what ifs. The fact is, Tyson has gotten a lot of hype and is ranked higher than he should be based off of WHAT hes actually done. Which is the definition of over rated. Nobody is shytting on him, just saying that hes ranked higher than he should be.

it depends how high people are ranking him:yeshrug:

tyson's hard to rank because his life was so fukked up

but in his prime, he was like nothin ever seen before in boxing
so yeah ppl are gonna tend to rate him based on his run
as opposed to his career after he was washed up

People tend to rank him VERY high on this board. But the honest to God truth is that his body of work doesnt justify it. Sure its nice to imagine what would have happened if he never did that bid, but we cant. :yeshrug:

All of these responses in here highlight my point - Tyson's whole legacy was built on a bunch of "if"s. That is a key element of being overrated.

this is why historians do not rate tyson so highly. I disagree and also agree..he was doing some mean things when he was young, he was beasting his way through cats..he couldn't hold it up and just diminished pretty sooner than later..

then Prison was a wrap..im surprised (in hindsight) he got the title back and won some good fights..he was a shell longer than he was a force!

It has to be Joe Louis because of WHERE he's ranked. Most people regard Joe Louis as AT LEAST a top 3 heavyweight, yet he was flat footed, lost to Max Schmelling prior to capturing the belt, and I think pretty much every heavyweight champ after him would've beat his ass...especially if they fought in the styles of their day.

What else can you judge Tyson on? :yeshrug:
Prime Mike lost to Buster Douglas :childplease:

Hes a top 10/15 HW but he does not belong in the same conversation as Ali/Foreman/even Lennox

You wouldn't happen to have a pic of those historians would you? That would tell us a lot. I'm sure these "historians" have Marciano ranked higher than Mike
