Is Kevin Hart as big of a star as Eddie Murphy was in the 80's?

What is Kevin Hart's "Coming to America"?

I'll wait :jbhmm:
Or "Party All the Time" or "Boogie in the Butt":scust:

Seriously though, Eddie Murphy is more dynamic than Kevin Hart talent wise. Kevin is a household name thanks to marketing and today's technology. I can't think of one memorable movie from him and he plays the same character. Eddie Murphy Raw is God status stand-up. Kevin can't compare.

:usure: Comparing '80s Eddie money to current Kevin money and there's no way he's making more.

Not overall, but we're talking about in the same timeframe, absolutely. If he keeps the same pace he will surpass Eddie Murphy, but ONLY if he ever starts having leading roles, which I can't see because I can't see how Kevin Hart can carry a movie solo.

It's different times tho. Eddie was one of the richest comedians back then.

Plus they talking about who was more popular. It's Eddie by far. He didn't have the luxury of technology to be known world wide but he still was.

This was Eddie Murphy in the 80s :wow: He was on another planet

1982 48 Hrs. Reggie Hammond Nominated – Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year – Actor
1983 Trading Places Billy Ray Valentine NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture
Nominated – Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy
1984 Best Defense Lieutenant T.M. Landry
1984 Beverly Hills Cop Detective Michael Axel Foley Nominated – Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy
1986 The Golden Child Chandler Jarrell
1987 Beverly Hills Cop II Detective Michael Axel Foley Also writer (story)
1987 Eddie Murphy Raw Himself Also writer and executive producer
1988 Coming to America Prince Akeem/Clarence/Randy Watson/Saul Also writer (story)
1989 Harlem Nights Quick (real name Vernest Brown) Also director, writer, and executive producer

I respect Kevin's hustle but he's not pulling down movies like this. His B.Hills Cop movies made a billion alone, that's all of Kevin's movies together.

Kevin has more advantages to him now, imagine if Eddie had twitter to market himself even moreso... Like you said if he starts having more leading roles but there's no guarantee he'll make a Trading Places or Coming to America caliber film.

Stature's not close. Eddie was on another level. He had multiple lanes and he succeeded in all of them. Kevin filled an arena on his comedy thing, that's commendable.
Eddie filled movie theaters, arenas, had a record that went platinum, he had TV with Saturday Night Live

:wow:
Eddie Murphy was on Michael Jacksons level in the 80's...can't be denied...AT MICHAELS HEIGHT EDDIE WAS RIGHT THERE WITH HIM(didn't they do a few videos together?)...straight super star status:yeshrug:...kevin doesn't come close to that yet...but we are a different society today than we were then. Those types may NEVER exist again.:jbhmm:
