Wrote all of his own material, created a new subgenre, and released nothing but classic albums. Its crazy to think he did all of that in about 4 years and is still the greatest guitarist of all time. He was mixing soul/funk/rock together all into one and was about to create another new sound. True genius.

Greatest guitarist, yes..
I think part of the reason Black music is such shyt these days is cause no one plays any instruments..you cant rush a song in 5mins with instruments, hence why todays music is so disposable.

Imma throw a curveball... Paddy Corea of Demon Fuzz. Sometimes things aren't meant to be, and the dude really only released a single album (demon Fuzz). But if you put his best songs against the best songs of ANY funk/psychedelic rock artist, he holds his own. Sly, Jimi, Norman Whitfield, Curtis.

Demon Fuzz was THAT GOOD, and somehow they got lost in the mix. It's a damn shame.

guitarist? Yeah. Dude was self taught and played that shyt upside down.

For those reading and don't know, I don't mean played it upside down the way he used to do weird shyt like play it with his teeth,

I mean played the shyt upside down by default, because that's the way it felt natural for him.

Imagine turning your keyboard upside down and typing on it.

Yeah.

Greatest artist and/or musician? Not by a long shot.

It's funny how people always say the UK is behind with music, when truthfully they take what we originate and master it....

lotta countries do. It's why Norway keeps pumping out these super talented and mega rich songwriters and composers. UK and Japan mastered our shyt.

It's also the reason why you can be huge in the US and abroad.... but you can't be huge abroad and the US as well... unless you're HUGE huge.

Imagine my shock when I discovered that the reggae dude from Death Row back in the day had platinum albums in Germany with Marky Mark.

They had the same time crunch problems back then too till a.m. radio came along in the 60's and all the jam bands had space to improvise/expand on shyt..a lot of people from Miguel, Bruno Mars,Jamie Foxx, Marcia Ambrosius etc etc play instruments but there's this attitude out here where u gotta downplay it ADD like it don't matter lol
