Dude was god in London. While everyone was trying to replicate the Beatles, The Beatles were stanning for Jimi Hendrix. What an amazing music scene tho, lots of inspiration and knowledgeable fans. Those white kids were even going out and buying the original blues and black rock originators albums/seeing shows. Love.

I trip on how all the bluesmen who ever played in England back then have always said they were shocked that the kids over there knew their music even betta than the audiences back home lol Paul McCartney still talks about how Sgt Peppers hadn't been out for a week and Jimi learned the tune ran it down to Mitch & Noel and they opened one of their shows with it with Paul McCartney and John Lennon sittin in the front row :-D #baddmuthafukkas

for example, the way he covered dylan's "all along the watchtower" and took it in a another whole direction and sound was genius
this is 1 of the few times in music where a cover of the original is actually better than the original. jimi took a shyt on bob's version of his own song
