I'll say Prince. but all the people mentioned in here, minus Kanye n some other troll attempts i might have not seen, are great choices.

In a rock blues context Jimi is great, incredible even but in the Jazz
world :sadcam: that's like best softball player against someone in
the MLB.

i get what you sayin' but again, this is jimi hendrix, bruh :mjcry:

for example, the way he covered dylan's "all along the watchtower" and took it in a another whole direction and sound was genius

this is 1 of the few times in music where a cover of the original is actually better than the original. jimi took a shyt on bob's version of his own song :wow:

I think Prince is.

prince was great. his 80's run was damn near unbelievable (his music, the music he wrote/produced/arranged for the time, vanity 6/apollonia 6, the bangles, stevie nicks, sheena easton etc) from like 80' to 87', prince was on a remarkable run:wow:

his concerts are still the shyt :mjcry:

but @Real , this is jimi, we talkin' bout. jimi :ohlawd:

So help me out on Jimi. I have slowly bought his albums over the years and absorb it like fine wine. I have the three studio albums released while he was alive, plus Blues, House of the New Rising Sun, South Saturn Delta, Valleys of Neptune, People, Hell, and Angels, and some live albums. What am I missing that I need to get, because the rest appears to be barrel scraping? Some of that is even evident on the above albums, but some of the alternate takes are amazing too, because he could put many spins on his tracks.

Just glancing some stuff over it looks like I need to pick up Band of Gypsys.

:wow:at the mentions of Bill Withers and Goerge Benson.

I got more familiar with Fela Kuti and :wow:

The big boy table definitely has plate/seat for those guys.

Can Shuggie Otis, Rick James and Bobbi Humphrey get some love too:sas1:, or how about Norman Connors :sas2:.

I think what made Jimi so great is that he had already made goat level, but didnt get to tap into his full potential even:mjcry:
