Good bye Coli(2014-2020)
people are flooding to atl for networking purposes musically (atl before rap was a hub for r&b though due to laface records I will say, which naturally planted the seeds for rap). Used to be nyc.
Good point.:ohhh:

But this means that even tho ATL is losing its mainstream control it still has a footing on the industry.

Pretty much. With the internet the regional thing is optics because regional artist are going to ATL and LA to network. In the past you blew up in ya city and then toured regionally and then eventually NYC Radio picked you up. All radio stations are owned by the same company now, so as a small town artist all you need is a good YouTube game and a few Atlanta or LA trips to network and you can make a decent following.

when I y network I more so mean you can get some solid features, videos shot, etc etc in a weekend trip plus stunt at some known clubs to help with your social media image. NYC don’t have “clubs” anymore , and like I said radio is a non factor because iheartradio owns everyone thus everyone has the same playlist of records.

Where The Grass Is Blue
explain? I don’t get ATL vibes from Roddy he sounds unique to me

But with that being said he does not sound like a west coast nikka
Most people I know who listen to him thought he was from Atlanta....some still do lol

He got a lot of Young Thug influence as far as flow and melodies and he be working with ATL producers, but I think he’ll eventually come into being his own artist....he got talent

You raise good points but one crucial aspect of that is the strip club culture is slow dying...which is also a big reason why many artists come to A

How do you think that will affect future travel and networking for artists?

Strip clubs in its originally sense are dead. They are still grounds for 'artist' showcase though. If your Song Takesover the Strip Club or goes Viral via social media memes or something you can blow. Look at Detroit, I 'd say Sada Baby and Payroll two of the best out regardless of region but them boys ARE NOT known like that outside of us who be on the internet like that and their regions. Sure you can make the argument an overwhelming amount of us are on the net now heavy, but even then I'm talking like non music casuals.

ATL is a city you 'get money' in legally/illegally + everyone flooding down for opportunity, thus you got everyone you need to blow (dudes who do videos, hoes for your videos, studios everywhere, clubs to play your music, its the hangout spot for all black celebs and many of them live here), you have everything in one place you need to do the ground work for your project for the low because everyone is trying to make a name. If you stick to your region you pretty much stuck with only dealing with major players or internet dudes who are popular and can/will tax you, all for you to maybe not pop because the clubs in your town hold no weight. ATL is also cheaper than LA so its easier to take the risk of moving down and doing the 'artist struggle' life.

Either you fail to see it or you out of the loop because Detroit rap is the hottest rap in the streets right now

All the young adults and teens are bumping Detroit rappers

this is what happens when you have zero connection to the youth, don't go to clubs, don't fukk with young chicks, and don't know what's going on.

Nobody cares about Detroit rap. A lot of cities are popping on varying levels but the pulse of rap remains in Atlanta.
