What people have to understand is that while the Spurs have a lot of young players with potential...
They're still not a good team, this is essentially the same Spurs team as last year minus a few subtractions and additions.
Adding Wemby doesn't suddenly make them into prime playoff contenders or an above .500 team right out of the gates, I remember leading up to the draft and throughout the off-season, a lot of fans were making a lot of silly predictions such as the Spurs winning the championship or being the best team in the West or even Wemby winning MVP.
Those fans weren't paying attention to the Spurs last year because if they were they'd know that team plus Wemby ain't doing nothing for at least the next 2-3 years if the franchise decides to stay pat and doesn't make any moves which I don't see them doing since the organization isn't the type to throw everything together just for a quick run at a chip.
So within these next few seasons, I see the Spurs gradually improving (above 500 season, play-in, first-round exit, etc). It's going to take a few seasons to see the Spurs being anything of significance in the West standings and championship contention.
