Is it fair to say that Nas is a better writer than Jay-z but Jay-z is a better rapper than Nas?

Nas has some terrible hooks too lmao. And some of Hov's best songs are also just him on the hook too. And if we really keep it a buck most people are gonna pick Big Pimpin and Money Cash Hoes hooks over virtually any hook Nas did himself.

I'm saying Jay is better at hooks because he has better hooks on his songs. It's that simple to me, I don't care where the hook came from, nor does anyone else outside of this thread. It's why DJs play more Jay than Nas and have been doing so since the late 90s. No DJ, fan, dancer etc is stopping and saying "but who did the hook on nikka What, nikka Who.

Ether and Made You Look >>>>>>> both them shyts u named. Better songs and more important songs too. And like I said. Is Curren$y the best beatmaker in the game cause his ear for beats is crazy?

Ether is a better song than Big Pimpin? Breh come on. Let's take ourselves out of this equation. Which song is the general rap public saying is better? Which hook are they saying is better? Same with Money Cash Hoes.

I don't think picking beats and hooks are the same thing at all. Clearly we not gonna agree on any of this lol. We both think Nas>Jay as a rapper so I'm not tripping.

Ether is the more important song than Big Pimpin. The Hook is DEF better. Made U Look is a better song than both. All around. Add I Can as well. More catchy than all of em. Whole generation of kids was graduating to that shyt. And picking beats and hooks are more similar than u think. Being that alotta beats come with the sample or hook already when the producer gives it to the artist.

It just that it seemed like you were making the case someone should get credit for a hook they didn't write or perform, just because it's on their song. Does The Game get credit for the hook on Hate It or Love it? Does AZ get credit for the hook on Mo Money Mo Murder? But maybe I'm misunderstanding your point.

Also, no one has ever gone to Jay for a hook. Nore was just on Drink Champs talking about how Nas has a writing credit on his song with Carl Thomas because Nas came up with the hook. Nas is the one that brought Miss Jones in to do the hook for Sugar Hill. Nas wrote the hook to The World Is Yours and practically had to beg Pete Rock to sing it because Pete thought it was a bad idea. Nas is responsible for some of the most classic hooks in rap, but of course you'd disagree if you're looking at it strictly from a numbers/pop angle.

Having singers sing on your hooks doesn’t make you a better hook maker though that’s the point. The best hook maker in Rap is arguably Nate Dogg, if someone else is doing all these legendary hooks instead of Nate Dogg, Nate Dogg doesn’t have the same credit, it’s pretty simple reasoning.

Exactly people think hits equals better music.

No, you're right. He was saying that. It doesn't matter where the hook comes from as long as it's dope.

I don't think this is a fair take. Nas has some of GOAT hooks and they sung by him. It's all in the what the goal is. A nikka being better at picking hooks and being better at making hooks is 2 different things. Being good at hooks and making hit records aren't synonymous.
Exactly what I was saying as well. You are correct. Beef is a perfect example of Nas making a complete song with a Hook.

To be fair Jay wrote the hook for Still DRE. Yet in still. I don't agree with son deducting points from Nas and giving Jay credit for hooks he had nothing to do with.

Jay Z
Lil Dirk :ehh:
Nas :ahh:

Jay Z is probably the worst rapper to ever come from New York. Bars extra corny. “Imma only up BIG like he my brother”:childplease:disrespectful ass lines. Horrible flow. Kingdom Come his best album. Reasonable Doubt is like “what the hell is this:dahell:. It’sgood he a good businessman, because otherwise he would definitely still be a struggling rapper like Jaz O orone of Nas hypemen. This guy has fooled the whole world just because he married Beyoncé
