Is it fair to say that Nas is a better writer than Jay-z but Jay-z is a better rapper than Nas?

If I Ruled The World Is better but I listened to it too much. Hate Me Now gets me amped and it's prolly the better joint but I can spin Street Dreams anytime and just vibe out.
"Street Dreams" is f'n theme music, pull up somewhere with that on it's gonna make you feel like a legend, lol. "If I Ruled the World" is one of the best rap singles ever to me tho, one of the few songs I don't think I could ever get tired of.

Conceptual prowess, storytelling.... Nas got it

But Jay is wittier, excels more in wordplay (ie double entendres) ...better at switching up his flow, more creative choices regarding cadence and verse structure

You can make the case Nas has the stronger discography though J's is more accessible (by choice), has a song for every mood...both have classic records, albums

Both written hits for other artist

Both good performers

Both 20+ yr careers...

Give Jay the edge in regards to influence impact...

My fav song on IWW always changes but it's most consistently Take It In Blood.

On first listen of the album, when it dropped, the lyrics on Take It In Blood were incredible to me. Still love it.

But I don’t think I've listened to any other track on IWW, as much as I've listened to The Message. That's just the perfect Nas track, to me. Just had it on earlier today, lol. That's one of my favorite joints from him, all-time.

Nas has become a much muuuuuch better performer over the last 10-15 years definitely...but Jay-z be shaking buildings bro, like he got them eating out the palm...and he's surgical with remembering the bars and not running out of breath and all that technical ish that makes you great on stage, etc... I gotta give Jay-z the big edge there
