That would be like not buying movies because you have Netflix's.

Netflix's isn't going to get everything, it's just something to supplement movies and it just like it has grown into more of its own thing outside of a movie streaming service gamepass will too.
I already don't buy movies because I have netflix and prime...

I'm a team Playstation guy from way back. But are we truly acting like we don't want all the games we can have for $15 bucks a month? Or $20, or $25. Whatever the price ends up being. SMH. Yall buggin. Or am I misinterpreting the back and forth in this thread?

Gamepass, GAAS, subscriptions = death of the videogame industry as we know it.
You got this backwards.

Gamepass is a way to bridge the gap.

Gives devs the freedom to be creative without worrying so much about making money.

AAA single player games are the most risky by far right now. Gamepass gives those games a way to exist.

No gamepass will make it so publishers will be able to recoup the extra cost with MTX. Thats what everyones been saying, that due to in-game purchases gamepass has been successful. It will be a full on GAAS machine in the near future. Even Halo is going GAAS

Majority of games on Gamepass are not FTP/MTX style games.

What it does is reduce the risk period. Whatever kind of game you want to make, you know you can make some money and have a healthy user base.

If you get off your stan shyt and actually look at the games available it’s a very diverse list of games that would otherwise get lost in the wash.

Everything from AAA Sony “exclusives” to low budget indies made by one or two people are available on Gamepass.

PS said:
"[In] certain cases, we’ll pay for the full production cost of the game. Then they get all the retail opportunity on top of Game Pass. They can go sell it on PlayStation, on Steam, and on Xbox, and on Switch. [...] Sometimes the developer’s more done with the game and it’s more just a transaction of, 'Hey, we’ll put it in Game Pass if you’ll pay us this amount of money.'"

"Others want [agreements] more based on usage and monetization in whether it’s a store monetization that gets created through transactions, or usage. We’re open [to] experimenting with many different partners, because we don’t think we have it figured out. When we started, we had a model that was all based on usage. Most of the partners said, 'Yeah, yeah, we understand that, but we don’t believe it, so just give us the money upfront.'"
Sounds just like I said. Whatever the situation it offers a path for success. Which means devs have to worry less about monetizing their game.

What did you read in that article?? :dahell:

Either way you cut it, the in game purchases are the selling point whether its for microsoft or for the publisher, it just about negotiating whos gonna get the bigger cut of the MTX

Usage means the people playing it on Gamepass. :comeon:

So they get paid when people engage with their game. No need to sell MTX or anything.

So again it allows multiple routes to success. What’s your problem?? You retarded?? :mjlol:

No. Nothing in that article or anywhere else says this.

You said it.
