That's all the coach we had my freshman year required. But my coach from 10-12 head us do the extra stuff. Our team was trash so it was one of those "change the culture" type of moves.

Trying too hard. First, he’s a coach at an HBCU, so most likely all their professors are black. Second, maybe he has been aware that some players are actually going to class with no shirts and shyt and is setting the standard moving forward. Third, again, he’s a football coach at an HBCU, so why would he give this speech to the baseball or (not existent) hockey team?
