At TEDxStLouisWomen, she discusses the challenges — and misconceptions — she’s faced as a woman of color in boardrooms and meeting rooms, and urges young women of color to seek out leadership roles for themselves. If people don’t make room for young women of color at the table, she says, everyone misses out. “Far too often in America, women of color [are assumed to not] fit the archetype of leadership,” Packnett says. “Women of color are doing incredibly important work … and we can’t do that to scale if we continue to erase women of color from the larger conversation on women [in leadership].”
