Because earlier in the episode Bruce Leroy was telling Dwayne how he be slamming ass with a lot of chicks despite the fact that they say no to him because in his words “Women only say ‘no’ so they don’t appear as hoes… so I take the p*ssy anyway because I’m a man.”

Afterwards he told Dwayne that he was gonna try to smash Freddie and since during that time Dwayne low key had a crush on Freddie he made it his duty to save her from getting raped.

Only thing that could be used to argue against it is that the first season is trash. Debbie Allen has to go down as one of THE greatest showrunners of ALL TIME for how she reshaped the trajectory of the series

Season 1 isn't necessarily trash imo, just really, really generic and a shadow of what the show would become.
